We are to travel to lubeck next July for 5 days. We are considering staying in an apartment, but what I would like to know is there any local supermarkets close to the centre of lubeck to purchase requirements for our stay?
I'd guess that there's more than just one supermarket. Google is your friend: enter supermarkt + luebeck and a map should show at least some of the supermarkets around.
Besides, now and then there is a a farmer's market in Luebeck's old town.
Lubeck is a terrific place - I remember a wide range of shops of all types near the old town. As the previous person said there's a market place. I remember buying some fresh fruit under the eves of the old Town Hall - I think it's called the Rathaus. Across the road is the famous Marzipan shop - great for gifts.
We really enjoyed our visit - although we were only there for a few days and we did stay in a hotel but if you have found a nice apartment I'm sure that you will have a good time.
WE took the bus up to Neu Travemunde for some time on the beach as well.
If you're there in early August there's the Duckstein festival. Try googling that. We all really enjoyed the evening when we went to the festival. There was something for everyone.
where ever you are in Lubeck I am sure that you will find a street market of little geocery store. It is not like the place is in the middle of the country.(It's a city with lots of churches and history) Walk out and ask the locals...they are helpful to tourist.,Along the town between the inner and outer walls of this gate was a small open air market selling various things including fresh fruits and vegetables. Depending on where you are, there are many shops that sell breads and cheese. I stay there for a week and ate out daily and didn't think it was expensive...my wurst thing was the things I ate, wurst, german hot dogs...but basically i pick up food on the go with vendors or drop in a bake shop. food is all good in Lubeck
