We are arriving at 26.September at LAX
Our flight - LX40 Swiss - will arrive at 4:30PM, we checked online that is usually on time.
We want to fly the same day from LAX to Las vegas. How much stopover time should we calculate?
7:05 PM - Delta
9:05 PM - United
10:40 PM - United
We currently looking at the 7:05 PM, but we don't know, is 2.5 hrs enough for transfer - to less or to much?
Hi. I posted another question about where to stay but am now more specific with areas. We will be going to Universal one day, Warner Brothers tour, doing things near Hollywood Blvd area, and then exploring other tourist things.
Which area/hotel is better...near Universal City (Studio City hotel) or Hollywood Blvd (Hollywood Celebrity hotel), near but off Hollywood Blvd a bit (Days Inn) or Thai Town (Dixie Hotel)? We will have a car but am thinking one of those.
Have narrowed it down to one of those based on budget and not being too far from Universal and Hollywood Blvd area. We have Hollywood Celebrity booked (but we can cancel).
Young senior couple staying in Santa Monica with a car for 10 days in late February and thinking of a day trip to Joshua Tree National Park. Is that feasible? And if so, can I add a stop in Palm Springs to the day trip?
We'll be coming to Los Angeles in the summer with our kids and will have 4 days to do touristy things (Hollywood walk of fame and Hollywood Blvd area, Universal Studios, Warner Brother's Tour, Santa Monica Pier, La Brae Tar Pits, etc).
I'm having trouble deciding on a hotel. We are on a budget since we'll need to keep money for LA plus 4 days at Disney. Anyone stayed at Days Inn near Hollywood Walk of Fame, Hollywood Celebrity, Comfort Inn...or hotels in Thai Town such as Dixie Hotel, Hollywood City Inn? We will most likely be renting a car for our LA days.
I've read already that public transport is safe in most of LA but I've been told the suburbs are pretty dangerous. I'm from Australia and travelling to LAX and from there I'll be catching the 232 bus to Lomita to see a friend. He thinks it's too dangerous, especially as I'm a girl, but I'm pretty open minded. I think he's probably never taken the bus anyway haha anyone have any suggestions? Thanks a bunch, Serena
I am planning flights and found one with Alaska Airlines arriving at Terminal 6 - with a 90 minute wait for another flight with QANTAS departing from Tom Bradley Terminal - do you think this is doable? or should more time be allowed between flights
Are Alaska Airlines usually on time?
Both flights will be international flights
How could I go to the Family savage's House ( The Wonder years) from the Hollywood walk of fame by Bus?. Thanks
Hi everyone !
I just came to Los Angeles- Marina Del Rey and i havent rent a car yet. So how can i go around ? Is metro safe? And where should i visit because i will stay in here for 3 months and i dont know any place in here
Hi we arrive in LAX at 6.40pm on Xmas Day. Does anyone know how much it would cost to use Uber to get from LAX to Hotel on Walk of Fame. We're here for 13 nights and not renting a car - is it easy enough to get around using public transport

Hey everyone. I'm a 32 year old male from Canada. I'm going to travel the Pacific Coast this summer by myself in my car. I've never done a solo trip and I'm finding it exciting and scary all at the same time.
My first leg is going to be to rush down to LA and stay there a week. I've gone back and forth on a couple hostels and I found one that doesn't seem like a party hostel and looks like a great value. It's in Jefferson Park and it's called The Anderson Estates. The hostel is at 1932 Rochester Cir, Los Angeles, CA 90018. I've reached out online to people who have stayed there and I hear great things and they say that the neighbourhood was kinda sketchy but they all seemed to travel by transit from there without issues.
I'm hearing mixed messages when I research this. One person from LA will say "NEVER EVER go into Jefferson Park unless you want to be stabbed 100 times a minute and it will happen 100% of the time so don't even think about leaving your hotel while here!" Then the next post will say "Don't listen to that nut, South Central LA is a lot better these days and as long as you are driving and not walking around after dark, you are fine."
Who do I believe? If anyone has an opinion on this, I would love to hear it. I would also love to hear a little about why you feel that way. I find that "help" that just tries to scare you or put you at ease without facts is empty. Is there anyone from LA that has actually been around this part of LA and can actually tell me about it? Does it seem 70% safe or 30%? Am I safe at this hostel in JP considering that I'll be going out at night only a few times in the week to see a comedy show but that I'll be in my car driving straight back to the hostel (going to Largo or UCB theatres only and going straight back to the hostel). Any thoughts, Angelenos?
I am tentatively scheduled to go on a cruise to Hawaii from Los Angeles (San Pedro) Nov 2017 with another lady (Polly) who has never been to the west coast (or Hawaii). For some reason, I thought that we would leave from San Diego, but we are actually leaving from LA (San Pedro). So I have decided not to try to visit San Diego as I don't want to rent a car or drive in that area.
I am not a fan of LA. I thought we would come in a day in advance and maybe do a little sightseeing (like a trolley or a harbor cruise) in San Pedro, and I want to take photos of the lighthouses there (which is why the harbor cruise).
So can I skip the harbor cruise because I will see the lighthouses when the ship leaves port?
I feel a little guilty about not showing Polly some of the things in LA while we are there. Last time I was in LA (other than between planes at the airport in 2012) was back in the early-mid 60's and we did things like go to Disney, Knotts Berry Farm and did a Universal Studio tour. I don't see any point in doing those things even if they were possible. I don't know if she would be interested in some kind of Homes of the Stars tours. Before I ask her, I'd like to know what would be possible for someone who does not want to rent a car or drive if they land at LAX and go to a hotel in San Pedro.
We are arriving September 8th at LAX and catching a cruise out of Long Beach on September 10th. I had originally thought I wanted to stay in Long Beach, but the sightseeing that I want to do is making me rethink this. Our must dos are the Walk of Fame and Hollywood in general, Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills area, and view the Hollywood Sign. We also want to explore Santa Monica. I am thinking since we will not have a car that Santa Monica is probably the best place to stay. I am looking for ideas for hotels, transportation and additional must see areas of Los Angeles that we can fit into our limited schedule. I am considering doing one of those hop on/off buses for our full day there, but not sure if it would be the best choice. We will taxi or Uber to the port on Saturday morning....thoughts?. Hotel budget is $350/night.
I will be visiting LA between 25-28 July. I need information about the city, hotel suggestion. If there will be someone Show around appreciated.
We will be in Los Angeles for four days - thursday to sunday in September. I read a lot of articles about a bad situacion with parking there and expensive parking lots. Are there any place with possibility to park for free or at least for good price? We can leave car somewhere and then go for walk, for example in shopping centers? Thank you guyes for your answers! :-)
What are the tempereatures and humidity in August i the Hollywood area? I get different answers from different pages so I would like to hear from a local or someone who knows the weather in LA.
Hi everyone, we will visit California in September (8. - 15.), our trip start and end in L. A. We want to rent a car for 17 day and travel between L. A., Las Vegas and San Francisco. Do you recommend me some good company with good prices for rent a car? Now I´m looking on rental-cars.com. And I have a big question about car insurance, what is really important to have and what is unnecessary? Is basic insurance (SLP - Supplemental Liability Protection) enough?
I previously posted a few questions about our itinerary and the airport. My question now is for the hotel for the last leg of the trip. I have a hold on a couple different options in different locations. I am curious what is best.
This is for Aug 27th, for three nights.
Goals: See Venice, Santa Monica and Malibu. Possibly visit UCLA and possibly head back to the downtown area to hit up some things we may have missed on the first two days of our trip when we are staying in the Echo Park area.
Given traffic and the vastness of the city I get their is likely not an ideal spot considering our focus is coastal for that leg of the trip but want to be able to get into town for more shopping or site seeing if we didn't finish earlier in the trip.
The first two days of our trip our itinerary is ambitious and that is why we may need to head back in on the final leg of the trip (the last three days). We fly in around 9am to BUR. Stay in Echo Park. Want to see Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theater, Warner Bros tour, The Grove, Sneaker shopping for the 14 year old nephew (RIF, Fightclub) and we want to try to catch and graffiti mural art tour which leaves out of the Art District.
The middle two days we are down in Irvine for a concert and visiting the Newport Beach area and will shop down there and maybe do whale watching.
Options I have on hold are as follows and any and all comments about these location or other recommendations are appreciated:
Option 1- Hilton Garden Marina del Ray
Option 2- a vacation rental in Venice Beach (airbnb)
Option 3- Courtyard Los Angeles Century City/Beverly Hills
I appreciate all of your help.
Traveling to LA August 23rd and have a few specific questions. I will include my itinerary below and welcome any general comments and recommendations as well.

Day 3- Concert in Irvine- stay overnight there for two nights, near airport there.
Day 4- Visit Newport Beach, shopping, whale watching.

Day 8 - Return out of LAX in a.m.
Thank you, Melissa
It's the only bit of Mulholland Highway I wish to do. I guess as it has been quite iconic in films etc. But I am trying to find out a place to head for for the start of it but I don't seem to be having much luck. I hope someone can help.
In august 2016, my family and I (parents + 16-year-old sister and I’m 19 myself), are travelling through the USA and we will be staying in LA for three days (in West Hollywood). We have a car, which I’ve heard is needed because of the vastness of the city. We would like to go to The Broad Museum and spend one afternoon on the beach (any suggestions which beach?), but apart from that, we have no schedule. We would be interested if some of you have some suggestions on where to go (unconventional yet beautiful/interesting places), what to do and maybe some nice (non-touristy) places to eat.
Thanks in advance!
HI, attending a concert at this venue soon and will be walking back to the Radisson Hotel USC afterward. Is it safe to assume that there'll be lots of folk around that area following the concert too ? Needing reassurance as I'll be attending alone.

Hello, I guess there is so much to do and see in LA. I am staying for 1 week, I don't think I will be doing the Universal thing, but anything you can suggest I totally miss or do?
My friends and I are traveling to LA for my 26th birthday. During the day we want to go to Venice Beach, Disneyland, Hollywood Sign and stars, Rodeo Drive...but at night we want to go to bars and clubs (preferably with hip hop music).
I am having trouble on figuring out where to stay (the Hollywood Area or the Downtown LA area) and if we should stay in an AirBnB or a Hotel.
outside of public transportation, is there an easier route to get from LAX to Hollywood Blvd? Does Uber provide service in these areas?
I currently have a dream about buying a one-way ticket to LA and see if I can get a job, just at a cafe or something, and just take a risk and see how it works out. Besides that I am also interested in studying abroad in LA, and I have been reseaching and have found an amazing place, but it is SO expencive... I dont think I will could afford it...
Have someone experienced or know someone who some done the same thing and do you think I could do it? I just want to get away from home(Denmark) after 4 hard years with anxiety and depression, and find myself and who i want to be and I have always dreamt of LA.
