Getting Lawrence From Kansas International Airport

My name is Teresa Sanchez, from Spain. I'm visiting
Lawrence next August, and I would really appreciate if
you could provide me some information about getting
there from Kansas Internation Airport:

- What are all the possible ways to get there from this airport?

- And what do you think it is the best (quality/price)?

Thank you very much in advance.

I'm looking forward to arrive in Lawrence!

Kind regards,

I'm not exactly sure how to do this...other than to hire a car, but you should be aware that that you are probably talking about Kansas City International Airport (KCI), which is located outside of Kansas City, Missouri, and is about an hour's drive away.

Hope that helps you with your transport option. Lawrence is a nice town, btw!

ellielou is correct. I'm certain you are flying into Kansas City International Airport (KCI), which, as he said, is about an hour away. There are only three ways to get from there to Lawrence: (1) An extremely expensive taxi ride (not recommended); (2) rent a car; or (3) there is a shuttle called the KCI Roadrunner that stops in Lawrence ([original link])

Of those options, I highly recommend renting a car because once you get to Lawrence it's the only good way to get around town. Lawrence does have a bus system, but it's not very convenient. If you take the Roadrunner shuttle it will drop you off at the Holiday Inn, a hotel on the north side of the city that's isolated and too far from everything else in Lawrence for walking.

I live about 30 minutes from Lawrence, so if you would like to have a small VT meeting and have me show you some where to go in Lawrence for good food, shopping, entertainment, etc please email me and I'll be happy to meet you there if I'm free. Enjoy your trip.

If you want to take a limo, you might want to look at Midwest Transportation. They have buses that leave the airport ever two hours for the one-hour trip to Lawrence. Round-trip fare is59. And they look like they are a little more flexible than the other company. But advance reservations are necessary: [original link]

I agree with yooperprof's recommendation about taking the limo express. I think you can probably get by in Lawrence for the most part without renting a car unless you want to take a day trip on your own. Lawrence is a great town, but you won't see it at its best in August, at least in the early part of the month. With the university out of session and the oppressive heat and humidity at that time of year, there won't be the usual amount of activity. Mid to late month, the students will begin returning and the city will spring back to life, however. Enjoy Lawrence - it's my favorite town in Kansas!!
