Kodiak Island

July 2009 trip to Kodiak...need some answers

We are coming to go a mission trip--vbs for a small church there. Most days will be working with the children from 1-4. I would like to go kayaking, but do not want to go with a group tour type thing. Is there anyone who does kayaking around this area more one on one?

Also...might be interested in hiking.

Husband will probably be want to do something more to my interests.

Many folks that live here in Kodiak have kayaks. I'm sure you'll befriend someone who can take you out. Especially if you're watching their kids:)
Noone rents kayaks that I've heard of.
There is a woman(Wendy 487-2397)that takes out small groups and I hear does a great job.
What does VBS stand for?
My grandson is going to Kodiak Baptist Mission summer camp all summer. One week is devoted to kayaking. You might give them a call and see where they get the kayaks. 486-4126. I'm picking him up in an hour or so, I'll see if any of the councellors (sp?) there know anything.
