Mount Kenya without a guide

Is it possible to hike Mount Kenya up to pt. Lenana without a guide?

Noop, I have done Lenana myself and I strongly recommend you take a guide. You can find lots of good guides from Naro Moro. Guides know the mountain and they are the best help when you are in difficulty

Thank you, but my question wasn't if I should hire a guide, it was if it's possible not to hire a guide according to the national park's rules.

Yes, you can. And the route (at least until Mackinders) is fairly well sign posted. However there is a minimum group size: 2. So if you are solo, you may as well hire the guide

If you are climbing from the Chogoria side, you will be well advised to hire a guide. The route is much more foresty, and chances of getting lost are higher.
I have only used the Nanyuki - Old Moses - Shipton - Austrian - Lenana route once. And IMHO, without the guide, I'd have struggled.

yes you can go upto point lenana alone but you also risk the chances of getting lost if you dont know your way through to that point
