My family and I are planning a trip camping. We have heard that there is high crime and dangerous areas of Kentucky to avoid. Where should we NOT go?
A good friend from Italy is coming to stay with us and he, like me, has an interest in bourbon whiskey. So...I thought we'd take a flight to "bourbon country" for two or three days but I know nothing of the area. Which town is the best "base" for visiting a number of good distilleries which also has some good, comfortable restaurants and bars? We'd have a car to get to any recommended town, but I would like town that offers some kind of transportation to the distilleries so we won't crash into a tree. Also, we'd like hotel that is comfortable with a good bar. Thanks for any direction you could give me on this.
I live in the suburbs of Louisville KY. I know nothing of the city or area. What are the best places to go and things to see? Can anyone suggest a tour bus or even regular busses that would allow me to see the city without having to drive downtown?
We are spending a week near Lexington at the end of October. My 16 year old loves horses so we will be spending at least 3 days at the Kentucky Horse Park. So, my first question: Is the horse park the best place to go horseback riding? Or are there nicer trails somewhere else?
Next question: Is 3 days enough for the horse park?
My family loves good bbq, so my next question: Where is the best place to get amazing bbq??
Any other must-see suggestions or tips would be appreciated. :) Our group consists of grandparents, mom and dad, and 5 teenage girls! Mom loves history, girls love horses, nature and good food.
Has anyone been there, and used the dog kennels to leave the dog while going on the cave tour? Was it ok?
We will be visiting Nashville next july and saw that the mamoth caves national park isnt that far from it in Kentucky. The probleme we are facing is we will not have a car so i wondered if there were any guided tour, transportation or solution for us to see the caves. The best scenarios would be a small tour operator that could bring us there and back in nashville afterward... but if there is any busses going there, that could drop us off at the caves that could do.. we are also going to chicago by grayhound bus after the nashville stop so it could be a stop along the way.... any ideas? we would like to see them. thanks.
I will arrive in Louisville at 4pm and need to travel to Danville on the same day. Is a bus the best and cheapest option? Where can I get one from? Some advice would be very appreciated.

I will be at the Hyatt Regency Lexington and will be with 2 people who are diabetic. I was looking at the menus of the restaurants near the hotel and they don't seem to have much for diabetic people. Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can take my diabetic friends?
Thank you in advance.
I will be flying into Lexington at the beginning of August and will be there for 5 days. Does anyone have any suggestions for things to do, sights to see and places to eat at?

Start July 2nd friday afternoon and reach Nashville in night. On July 3rd, spend half a day there and drive down to Mamooth Caves. Visit the tours and drive down to Louisville for night stay. On July 4th, visit Louisville attractions till 2pm and proceed to Cumberland falls. Stay overnight and on July 5th, drive back to my current destination Charlotte. I stayed in Louisville around 14 years back for 2 years and now curious to return to the place and see things again. Suggestions/Comments please...
A couple years ago my family visited Kentucky Lake. Before our trip, I looked up some interesting places to visit. Unfortunately, I didn't get to do many of these things. We are going back to Kentucky Lake this summer and I was trying to look up a few of the places again.
I remember finding a little information about a tiny, old church (possibly a schoolhouse). It was in the middle of the woods or something and there may not even be any main roads to this place. Did I dream this place up or can someone please tell me more about it?
Also, is there a historica place that gives scenic train rides?
Hey there - I'm helping my husabnd plan a Bachelor Party trip that he's hosting for a friend. They are planning to go to the infield at Derby. We live in Columbus, so it's about a 3.5 hour drive. I've heard that most hotels make you stay for three nights, and it's probably pretty pricey. Anyone have any ideas where nine very nice (not too crazy!) guys could spend the night on Friday and Saturday night of Derby weekend? They don't need anything fancy, but would prefer for the place to be clean and safe.
Or, can anyone just give me an idea in general about staying in Louisville that weekend? Is it better to stay out of town a little bit? They were thinking of going to Versailles, KY for a distillery tour on Sunday, so maybe somewhere in that area would be better, price and availability-wise?
Thanks for any ideas!!
We live in Columbus Ohio and find ourselves within driving distance of Kentucky, the state parks look very interesting and inviting. However is it a good idea to be visiting the same in winter now in December? Are the caves and Cumberland Falls all open at this time of the year, the websites mention that they are. Also how cold does it get?
Any advice on th above will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Looking for hotel or home rental information for the Lexington area. hopefully I can find a house to rent for 3 weeks in 2010 (Sept 24-Oct 10) that might be less expensive than a hotel for that duration. If anyone in the area has any info it would be appreciated.

(not sure of the name or location)My husbands parents have both past and we used to go with them to these places but we never paid attention how we got there.
Thinking about renting a house boat. Any Lake in Kentucky is fine. If you have rented one before, what kind of advise can you give me? Would you do it again? Was it like you thought it would be?
Any advise is welcome.

I was planning to camp in the central part of the state next week but was looking for more comfy lodging in case of incessant rain. Does anyone out there know of any clean, inexpensive hotel bargains in the region between Louisville, Lexington, and Mammoth Cave? Thanks -sam

Just wondering about the B&B Riverboat cruises in Covington, KY. Has anyone ever been on one? We were considering an evening cruise that's about 3 hours with dinner included. Just wondering if it's worth the trip - we have a three hour drive to get there and wondered what else would be good to do in the area for a weekend? Also any recommendation on where to stay??? Thanks
Are there any climbers out there that can tell me much about the red? I'll be driving from Arkansas to Ontario and will be going through Kentucky - I'd like to stop and climb and would be interested in a climbing partner, as I will be alone, and/or just some advice or info about the area, as I've never made it up there to climb! Thanks! Liz
