I am planning a budget for a 2 adult trip to Switzerland including the destinations of Lucerne, Interlaken etc with a quite concrete tour plan in each of the destinations. My questions related to Lucerne trip are:
1) A day pass available for the round trip from Zurich to Lucerne with some discount treatment for the cogwheel, boat touring cost? If not
2) What is the train or bus round trip cost from Zurich to Lucerne?
3) In the Lucerne and surroundings, what is the No.1 trolley bus cost from Lucerne to Kriens?
4) What is the round trip cogwheel cost and single trip cost from Kriens to Mt.Pilatus?
5) What is boat tour cost on the lake to Alpnachstad?
What do you think the ideal trip line that covers the most worthseeing landscapes with the most effective cost? Many thanks!
Hi, We will be in Luzern, Switzerland for three days and will need 2 rooms or 1 famliy room for Late July, 4 adults. Prefer a private bath and we won't have a car so we won't be able to stay too far from Lucerne. Anyone have a hotel they recommend. Budget 300 USD if possible. Thanks
Will be in Switzerland mid July for three days. We will be coming from Paris. Never been before and thought Luzern would be nice. Wanted mountains and a lake, some hiking and general relaxing, going on to Florence upon leaving. If you only had 3 days in Switzerland in your whole life would it be spent in Luzern. If so where would you stay(hotel)? Budget is under$500 USD/day. Couple and 2 adult boys. Traveling by train/no car. Would 2 days in Luzern and a day in Interlaken or somewhere else be better? Thank you so much for relying!
I am in Zurich and I would be driving my car for a weekend with my family (spouse + child + parents). Can anyone suggest what all we can see in 2-3 days in and around Luzern. I am interested in covering following ones. If possible can suggest breaking in 2 weekends, as I am in Swiss for more than a month:
2) Mt. Titlis
Any suggestions apprecaited.
Also suggest for a good decent (but not costly) hotel to stay for a night or two.
Thanks in advance....

Hi again! Can someone help me with scheduling Lucerne? My plan is to leave Zurich as early in the morning as possible to get to Lucerne. Once in Lucerne I want to take the family to Mt. Pilatus, the chapel bridge, the Lion Monument and (if time) a cruise around the lake. Are all these things possible in a day? If this is too packed, please let me know.
Also, if this was your day in Lucerne, how would you plan it?
Thanks for your input!!
How do you get to the starting point of the mount pilatus round trip tour if you are travelling by car from Zurich? If only one day before heading to Zermatt, would you do Mount pilatus and Rigi? Or, Pilatus and Titlis? How would you get from the end of the tour of Pilatus to the start of a tour of Titlis? Would we leave our car all day. After our big day of touring, how long will it take to drive to Zermatt? Thanks so much
Can any one tell me whether the Alpnachstad-Luzern journey by the ferry is totally covered by the swiss pass or not?
If I have swiss pass and I do not purchase the ?classical 'Luzern-Kriens-Pilatus-Alpnachstad-Luzern[the last leg by ferry - steamer in 1st or 2nd class]' will I be allowed to ride the ferry on the basis of my swiss pass?
Then I will have to pay only reduced fare on the mountain railway. Kindly correct me.
I will be in Switzerland from February 19 till March 2.
It will be a business trip so mostly I'll stay in Luzern but also I'm going to spend a couple of days in Zurich or somewhere else.
I would be very glad to make friends in Switzerland so I'll be very thankful for any advices and replies.
We were in Luzern last August but because of the floods we were not able to go up to Mt. Titlis. Even though we were very disappointed, I must admit to being a bit relieved. I have never seen snow before so thought this would be a great experience but going up 10,000ft in a chair lift is kind of scarey. For all those brave people out there who have done it, is it safe and just how scarey is it. We are going back next year and I would like to find the courage to to it. To see snow for the first time in Switzerland would be unreal. Cheers.
How is Hotel Ibis? Will it be difficult to do sight seeing if we stay there. We shall reach Lucerne by train and after taking a night cruise and going to Mt. Titlis shall go to Interlaken.
I will be making my first trip to Switerzerland next week.
Most likely will be staying in Luzern during my stay.
Was planning to visit interlarken and Mt Titlis over the next 2 days.
Any suggestions on what I could do in the remaining 2 days.
I will be using the SWISS pass ...so would like to maximize my stay.
Thanks and happy holidays
Hi, We are going to Lucerne in early October 2004 to stay at the NH Luzern hotel for 4 days. Would like to know has anyone stayed at the NH Luzern Hotel at Boeveriestraat 2 in Lucerne? If so, what did you think of this hotel? Were the rooms nice and clean? Was it in a convenient place in town? The internet says there are hair dryers in the room, but the hotel itself said no. Does anyone know if hair dryers are in the rooms? Thanks for your help. Hope someone can help. Esther & Mike
