Where can we watch free 4th of July fireworks in Kansas City?
What do most travelers do during the time of a layover in the bus station during the hour & a half that the station (Greyhound) is closed? Is there a nearby business open 24 hours, or a hotel right by the bus station? Thanks, Linda from Lawrence

We're continuing our quest of baseball parks this summer. KC, Arizona, and Colorado are on our list this year. We usually spend another day or two in the cities we visit. Looking for tips on where to stay relatively close to the ballpark, and other "must-see", "must-eat", etc. locations while in KC.
I'm considering taking my nine year old daughter to KC along with another friend who has a daughter the same age. I've browsed some web articles about children's activities in KC and haven't found them all that enlightening so I thought I would ask the VT community where we can take two little girls. We plan to be there between Christmas and New Year's and spend 2-3 days in the city.
And thanks to all the VTers who have put out their favorite BBQ joints! o need to ask about that one again!
What is the meaning of life?
My wife and I in town next Friday night (9/26). Looking for good BBQ and something fun to do in a safe place. Suggestions?

I will be attending a conference up at the airport but staying with "locals" that i don't know in the overland park area. all evenings are free, so is thursady all day/night and friday until 3pm and then after about 10pm. Saturday after 10 pm...Sunday after 12 noon, flight leaves at 5pm.

i want to eat good bbq and hear some great local music. i am not big on the party scene and "clubbing", like it local/and safe. i would like to have early morning breakfast, like 6 am, on saturday on the way to conference.
Is the area around Amtrak station safe at night?
Are there safety boxes at the Amtrak station in Kansas City? I will arrive by train and stay in the city for one day in july. I want to leave my suitcase somewhere after i check out from the hotel.
Is it better to stay in downtown Kansas City, MO, in the plaza area, or in the power and lights district? Please let me know, I'm planning a long weekend trip mid July. Thanks!
My boyfriend & I are going to an event at the Sprint Center. He booked a room at the Holiday Inn Express on Macon St in North Kansas City. Is this a safe area, or should we cancel and book somewhere else? Also, how safe is the area around the Sprint Center at night, and by that I mean 9:30/10 after the show? I'm not against driving downtown or staying downtown if that would be a better option. We will only be in KC for 1 night and then have to head up to Excelsior Springs for a wedding.
I have booked a room at a hotel near the airport... was wondering how safe that area is... I can cancel my reservations if it is not a good place to be at.... please let me know asap?

For the past 3 years my Wife and I have spent a couple of weeks each September in different areas of your great country. Next September we are planning to return from Scotland we like visiting 2 or 3 cities on our 2 weeks travels. One of our likes is visiting Swap Meets/Flea Markets for antiques and collectables, are there any worth while places to visit in Kansas City? We would really appreciate any advice on this matter. Kind regards in advance.
I want to take my mother on a day trip tomorrow since the weather is so nice. She is a lover of the outdoors and as long as it is not too windy is game for anything outside. She loves tea rooms and flowers and just spending time with nature. Any ideas?
We have a weekend (21 - 23 June) free in Kansas and are at a relative loss as to what we should do. We would ideally like somewhere to wind down with not too many people and the opportunity to see something of the country. Price isn't a particular limiting factor, we just want to get away from it all.
We would be grateful for your advice and hints.
With thanks in advance.
Is there a club here that if you pay $15 you can drink well drinks all night without paying anything other than a tip
Our family of four (Mom, Dad, 18 and 15 yr old boys) has traveled over the years to baseball destinations. We're looking at the July 19-21 weekend to see the Tigers/Royals in Kansas City. Looking for suggestions on where to stay, things to do for a few days in KC.
traveling with buddies and teenage sons to KC for college basketball and panthers/chiefs. Westport sounds fun for adults - what is a good hotel to stay in the area? is westport the right area?
Hello everyone, I am traveling to Kansas next week from Pakistan to visit my aunt and I plan to see many places in America like New York, Vegas, Florida, San Francisco, Niagra Falls, Grand Canyon etc. My biggest concern is that all these states are very far from each other, Kansas is in the centre with California on one corner of the map and New York etc on the other. Can anyone guide me about what would be the cheapest form of traveling there? Secondly my aunt lives on Travis Lane in Kansas, is that a fun place? Does it have any shopping malls or something interesting nearby? As this is my first trip to the States, I want to make the most of it and have great experiences so any advice/guidance you guys can give me would be valuable. Thanks :)
The wife & I are going to see the Chiefs-Dolphins game next fall with a group of other Dolphins fans. (The NFL won't release the schedule until April, so we could be going anytime from September to December.)
Someone else is coordinating the tickets & hotels for the group, so I want to know about restaurants & brewpubs.
We're going to be arriving (driving in from St. Louis) early Saturday afternoon, and I'd like to know of a nice steakhouse and/or BBQ place to hit for dinner that night. I'm also looking for a brewpub to hit either before or after the game on Sunday.
We will be in KC at Christmas for the first time in 25 years and look forward to seeing the Plaza lights again (I use to live about 10 blocks from the Plaza). My favorite place to view the lights was at the top of the Seville hotel (that really dates me, since I think it's changed hands several times and is now the InterContinental). I don't think there's a top floor bar/restaurant there any more. Can someone suggest a restaurant or bar that's high up that will provide a great view of the lights? We plan to have dinner at the Raphael Christmas eve, but that's on the ground floor. Thanks for any and all suggestions!
