Hi - I'm travelling from the UK to Kamloops via Vancouver. I cannot afford the additional cost of flying from YVR to Kamloops. I also don't drive so car hire is out of the question. I understand there is a Greyhound depot in Vancouver (about 45 mins from the airport) but that seems impractical to get to as I will have luggage.
My friend who usually collects me and drives me to Kamloops has a car but it will be out of action for the winter. There are no trains on the day that I arrive in Vancouver and as it's an 8 hour journey it feels unnecessarily long after a 9 hour flight from the UK.
I have had a quick look at private companies who will drive you but the price is well in excess of $600.
Can anyone suggest an alternative way to travel to Kamloops that isn't going to cost me the earth? I'm arriving in Vancouver at 14:20 on 13th November and flying back to the UK on 20th November at 16:05.
Thank you in advance. :)
You can take Greyhound from Vancouver to Kamloops. Click on the link below for fares and schedule information for your travel date. You can book and print your ticket on line. From the airport take the Canada Line to Waterfront Station, transfer to the Skytrain, and take only The Train To Main, get off at Main Street Station, that is where Greyhound is located which is in the Pacific Central Station, you could also fly with Air Canada or WestJet, you can check their web sites for prices and times. You will need to clear Canadian Customs etc. Give your self at least 4 hours to make the transfer.
I know this may seem a bit risker to some, but you could always search Craigslist in the Vancouver are for a "rideshare". I know people who have had success with it, and if you don't find a posting of what you need you could always make your own. It should save you a ton of money, and who knows - you may even meet a new friend out of it! :)
Good luck with your travels! :)
Cheers for that. I hadn't considered Craigslist but have just had a look at the Rideshare section. That certainly seems promising. Thank you.
Thank you - I appreciate your yelp :)
According to Google Flights, its as cheap as $157 to fly there.
YVR to YKA
Really? I couldn't find anything under $350 when I looked earlier :( Will have to look at the flights again. Thank you :) x
My understanding is the best day to check is Tuesday, as that is when there are the fewest airline tickets sales made.
