Just wondering if anyone from Philly is going to Jamaica. We're flying into Montego Bay on the 8th of November and looking for some other people to share a ride to Ocho Rios. I have a long time guide who is meeting us and looking to share expenses. Looking forward to your response. Thanks.
WE are visiting Jamaica on Australian passports. Do we need any visa or such?
Hello! Thanks in advance for helping us out. My girlfriend and I are going to have our last Spring Break (Whoo Hoo ha) from film school and we have decided that Jamaica is the place for us! The only thing is that we can't make up our mind about where to have our main hotel stay. We plan on doing some day travel but we can not decide where to have 'home base'. We are in the market for a nice resort style place (safe) on the beach, with a relaxed environment but also plenty of activities to keep us busy. We are both 25 and are not really looking to "party" a lot. Just a nice romantic trip with my babe. So if anybody has any suggestions please let us know! Oh we are staying 4 nights and could maybe spend about 150 to 200 a night (and eat romen noodles ha). Thanks yall so much! Respect.

Hi peeps. I'm off to Falmouth, Jamaica in 2 weeks for a fortnight to celbrate my birthday at the breezes trelawny hotel. I'm a huge football (I've written soccer also as I noticed their are many Americans and Canadians who have posted on Jamaica. I'm from Brighton, near London and I'm a passionate Arsenal FC fan. There are two massive games on whilst I'm in Jamaica against Tottenham and Manchester united and I want to find a place that shows football. Any ideas?
We are staying at the iberostar grand rose hall later this year and would like to hear from those who have stayed there before with regards to tips. Coming from NZ where we don't have all inclusive resorts and tipping isn't as frequent as that in US and most other places we want to ensure we get it right.
Would love to hear when it is/isn't polite to tip. Eg do you tip for each drink at the AI resort or just at the start or end of the service for the day?
Our booking states that gratuities are all included but I think with butler and other services some tipping will be best advised.
Would also love to hear any other suggestions from those who have previously stayed so we can ensure a great experience.
Thanks in advance
I will be staying in Knockpatrick for a few days then travel to Negril for a few days. I would really like to get to the Blue Mountains but probably won't have free time until I get to Negril (traveling with others so independent choices not so easy till then). Is it possible/feasible to arrange a guided trip to Blue Mounatains from Negril? How reasonable would it be to rent a car and connect with a guide in vicinity of Blue Mt? I have no concept of how long it would take to drive from Negril to say Irish Town. I am interested in birding, botany and general nature guide/experience. Thansks
hav a trip booked to jamaica in 4 weeks, i asked my travel agent about any fees to leave the country and she told me 'no' but i just read someone say something about j750$ to leave? how much is that canadian? i hav my boyfriend and 2 kids coming along as well so will need to know what to make sure i have...
Hi, Anyone has been on the peak of the Blue Mountains? Do you have any information how to get there? I might rent a car, but as far as I know with normal car you can drive only to the park entrance.
1. Do I realy need a guide or I can hike myself?
2. Is it safe to leave the car at the park entrance?
3. How will I get from there to the trail?
Or other idea: do you know any agnecy in Port Antonio, who organise the Peak hike?
Thanks a million!

I've got a question. I'm now in the Dominican Republic. But I wanna travel to Jamaica beginning of April and find an apartement. Do you know a website for finding an apartement or a room for several month?
I will have a stopover in Kingston airport and need to spend one overnight there. I was thinking about Morgans harbour hotel in Port Royal, which is close to the airport, and maybe a safer place then Kingston itself. Since i will traveling with my family, i am concerned in this factor. So what do you thing, is Port royal dangerous as Kingston? I have also some worries about malaria, which is present in Kingston - is it a problem also in Port royal, is there a lot of mosqutios ?
Thanks for every advice.
Hello! I am going to be going to Jamaica in April, Ive never traveled anywhere outside of the US, never even been on a plane so I am super excited that the first time is going to be to Jamaica... However I have alot of questions. I guess my biggest concern is whats a good amount of money to bring for a 7 day trip, the hotel and everything is already paid for, so I really need money for food, shopping, nightlife fun...I dont want to end up running out of money, but I also dont want to put myself in the red when I return home, so Ill only be bringing cash with me, no credit cards. Some tips on things to bring, sights to see would be helpful as well. I want to really enjoy my stay to the fullest. Thanks in advance! Also Ive heard there is a return tax when you leave 750 jamaican dollars.. is this correct? And what types of things are you allowed to bring back, coffee, rum.. food stuffs that type of thing, any restrictions?
My fiance and i are travelling in August this year and need to book something really fast for accomadations...i need cheap, affordable villa or apartment for the month..close to the beach..location does not really matter too much, we would like to spend a beautiful vacation and get married on a budget...any suggestions???
Since i plan to join Jamaica to my caribbean trip, i would like to ask you about the safety situation there (i will fly to Montego bay and then transfer to Negril). I have read some web sites about high crime in Jamaica, and about some precautions there (dont go outside resorts after the sunset, lock the doors, etc). Since i will travel with a little child, i dont want to risk (i could change this destination, but Jamaica is more ideal for next flight connections). I have some questions:
- is it safe to go there ?
- isnt there a risk of break in the rooms (if my hotel will not have walls around), or robberies on the beach ?
- isnt the transfer from MoBay to Negril too dangerous (from robberies, or from accidents - i have heard about bad driving habits there) ?
- did you hear about some bad stories, which happened to tourist there?
I dont want to risk unnecessarily (for example walking in the night), but i want to know, if dont take my child to potential hazzard, if i go there (theoreticaly i can skip this destination, if it is more dangerous than other caribbean destinations).
Thanks for every advice
My husband and i are holidaying at ohio rios couples tower for three weeks and i would like to know what brands of cigarettes you can buy in the hotel or locally. As you can only take four hundred in each which is not enough for three weeks.
Does anyone have information about arranging a charter flight from Montego Bay to Negril?
Just came back from a great vacation in Troncones, Mexico with 10 of my good friends. We rented a large surf house on the beach and it was very reasonably priced. We are looking to do the same next year in Jamaica but I haven't found any affordable places. We are looking in the2000 -3500 range. I was hoping somewhere on the South Coast would fit the bill but if anyone knows somewhere that could accommodate 10 -15 people for that price, all help would be appreciated.
We are thinking of jamaica for our family: husband, me, 9 year old son and 7 year old daughter. We usually steer away from the large, cheesy all-inclusive resorts for a little charm. However, with kids in tow, we want a resort that doesn't necessarily cater to kids but has a GOOD pool, NICE beach and solid amenities. Does anyone have ideas? Ideally, we could rent a small bungalow with two seperate bedrooms or a small suite inside a nice resort. Ideas? Reviewing the resorts online is overwelming....
My father and I are going to Jamaica in February and are looking for a local to go out fishing with. Either type is fine as long as we get to fish. Anywhere on the North or West of the island as we will be in Ocho Rios and area and then in Negril and area. Also South as far as about Tresure Beach. We are rent a car so mobility is no problem.
Any help would be great!
Since we need to have a stop-over in Kingston during my caribbean vacation and need to spend a night there (there isnt connection flight at the same day), i have some worries about a transfer from the Norman Manley airport to the hotel and back. I will travel with my little son, and since i have heard bad stories about a big crime there (including areas around the way from the airport to the city, and also during a daytime, when i will travel), i want to ask you, if it is really dangerous, and if i can avoid to go throw these areas (i have heard about 2 possible routes - more dangerous Mountain View Avenue, and less - but still dangerous South Camp Road). What can you advise me ? Or is it better to try find another flight route (not via Kingston) ?
Can anybody tell us how safe it is to walk on Seven Miles beach (Negril) at night?
Or do most people prefer to stay within the gates of their all-inclusive resort?
Thanx for any info.
What would be the smartest thing to do when going to Jamaica: taking cash US dollars or Euros to exchange to Jamaican currency?
Or should we take traveler cheques with us?
We will be visiting Jamaica in February and have booked a hotel in Negril for 10 days.
Want to spend most of the time relaxing on the beach, but of course we would also like to visit some nice spots in the vicinity, maybe renting a scooter or booking a day excursion.
Suggestions anyone? Any good snorkling possibilities around Negril?
Thanx for any info.
Does anybody know the rate for a taxi from Montego Bay airport to Negril?
Thanks for any info.
We are going self catering in montego bay and wondered what food we can take from UK ie breakfast cereals bread meat cheese tea coffee etc
