My husband and I have been to Aruba (which we love), and St. Maarten (which was ok), and the resorts we stayed at were not all inclusive. We are very interested in visiting Jamaica, but we prefer to explore islands, eat at different restaurants, and of course relax on the beach - so we aren't all inclusive people. I have read online that Jamaica is safe (just use common sense), and the locals are super friendly, but then you hear through word of mouth that Jamaica is not that safe. Would Jamaica be for us to visit, even if we decide to not do all inclusive? Thanks in advance for your help!
Please help me with the attractions and things to do in Jamaica.
We are planning a trip to Jamaica in February 2014. I know this is really far in advance but we have to save $$ to go. How far in advance is too far to buy tickets? What are the lowest prices I can expect to get on a ticket? Is $500 cheap? We would be flying into Montego Bay... Thank you in advance for the help!!

My family is planning a trip to Jamaica in December (just before the peak Christmas season). It looks like the prices for Grand Bahia Principe (Runaway Bay), RIU Montego Bay and Iberostar Rose Hall (not the suites) are all around the same price. I have two kids (4 and 1) and we really enjoy good food (my husband loves authentic Jamaican jerk). Which of the three resorts are recommended?
I've also seen the Sunset brand resorts and I'm getting drawn in by the water parks (for the kids), but am a little weary of some reviews I've read about the rest of the resort. Any thoughts?
Looking for anybody in the states that might be going as well. I have been to the resort we picked before and will be doing a lot of "free" Snorkeling with my wife. If you want to hang out at an all inclusive that has free snorkeling off the beach reply back. Note: Must provide own snorkeling equipment ;)
Just booked my trip to RIU Mo'Bay with CaribbeanTL.com, just 17 more sleeps and I'll be in paradise, yeh mon!!
Any tips/ advice from fellow travelers on things to do/ places to see in Mo'Bay?
does anybody know who is organising kingston tours from runaway bay or ocho rios?are tour operators going to kingston and where and to see what?
Since reading responses from those who have traveled the Jamaica wonderlands, I am considering Negril instead of MB. Talked to sisters and they are OK with it but they still want all inclusive. So probably RIU Paridise since they are all suites and in our price range. I would appreciate any advice here...is this a good hotel? We are easily swayed and will no doubt want to go into Negril for a taste of local culture. Best places for the over 60 crowd? LOL Traveling first week of Sept. We really are fun ladies but it has been a rough year! LOL want a little pampering along with our fun. Do I need to make bus reservations from the airport?
Hi, My 2 sisters and I are all over 60. We take a sister trip every year and are wanting to check Jamaica off our bucket list. While we enjoy a litte local culture, we want to mostly sit on a beach under an umbrella, sipping a drink, eating when we want, and having sister time. We have never done the all inclusive but are wanting to try that. We all live in the US and one sister can't do a lot of walking. We do like to sit on the balcony and look at the ocean. We like to be pampered as we don't get that everyday. We are all on fixed incomes but put asside about4000,US for all 3 of us for our trip. We are looking at RIU MB? We do like to take in some local shopping. Our idea of good night life is a good dinner, some local music and a comfortable bed. LOL I am looking for input for a resort for the 3 of us. Thanks.

Hi all----we are making our yearly trip to Negril this coming June and want to visit Rockland Bird Sanctuary (I think it is just outside Mobay). Any VTers been here lately and is it still a good place to see hummingbirds? We get to Mobay around 11am and want to go there before heading to our rental house in Negril. Will this be too late (or early) for seeing birds?
We are going to Jamaica in December for our honeymoon. I have Celiac Disease and this will be my first time traveling out of the country since my diagnosis. Does anyone have any insight with gluten free being a problem or not in Jamaica?
Also any advice or suggestions while here would be helpful!
Is there anything I could bring with me in March when we come to Jamaica they would like to have that they don't have there? We travelled to other Islands and brought a case of hospital goods with us for them.something for the children perhaps?
My husband and I are traveling to Jamaica for the first time In February and first time at an Adults only. I see two of the dining choices at Couples Swept away have a dress code. One is Semi Formal and one is casual elegance. It says no open toe shoes. Does that apply for Women too? For semi-formal do I need to wear a dress? Also for Causal elegance can my husband wear khaki pants? Could I wear capri pants?
If you have been there before can you please let us know is acceptable for their dress code at the Feathers and Lemon Grass dining facilities? Also any other good to know tips would be appreciated.
We will be stopping at Ocho Rios for one day this January on a Carnival cruise. Do you guys have any ideas for using this short time? Also we are wondering if we should use the cruise excursions or local ones? I've heard rumors that locals can treat tourists badly.
