I'm looking to go to Montreal for a weekend, but apart from renting a car, nothing else seems possible.
And as I am not 21 years old yet, I would pay around 600 dollars for renting a car by myself.
You could use Greyhound, click the link below, you can change the date to suit your travel plans.
Greyhound is possible, but I would have to do 2 transfers, and it'd be around 12hrs long just to get there and for a weekend thats a bit much.
Any other suggestions?
Ok, you might look at US Airways, they have flights for $309.00 roundtrip depending on when you wish to travel. I looked at Fri Oct 24 departing 645p via a change of plane, arriving Montreal 1021p, The return departing Sun Oct 27 departing 555p via a change of plane, arriving home at 1023p. Changes of aircraft are in Philadelphia. That's the only weekend where prices are pretty reasonable. Here is a link you can take a look at the prices for the whole month of October, then change the date to suit your travel plans.
Thanks a lot!
This is great for the future, but doesn't help me for the weekend of October 9th until October 14th.
anything esle you might think of?
Nope, wish you had given your dates when you made your post, would have made it a little easier. Next try and put in as much information as you can, dates, times, etc, Good luck, maybe you could rent a horse :-)
If you can find someone willing to drive you to Brockville, On, you could take a train direct to downtown Montreal. The ride to Brockville by car is about 2h30-3h.
Check the ride boards. I went to Cornell, and in the student center there was always a board listing where people were going in the next couple of weekends, looking for shared cars/rides or whatever. These days, the ride board is on Craigslist, rather than a physical bulletin board with index cards, but it's definitely worth a shot. Google "Ithaca rideshare" and you'll find it.
easiest way to travel to montreal is to pay for a plane. book your flights ahead of time and then go.
the cheapest way to go is by bus. take the megabus from nyc to toronto and then transfer from toronto to montreal using 2 legs. if you buy the tickets ahead of time you might actually get a very cheap fare. the trip though would be very long and it would take longer than a weekend.
