Hello everyone, does anyone knows the average cost of: meals; bemos; souvenirs.. I would like to avoid being tricked.
Check this website, I used this myself
Thank you, but i've already checked that site, and the cost of the meals seem too high. i don't know if the site is reliable.
I used the site when I traveling, so far I find it reliable source without knowing the actual price. At least it gave you an idea of prices on spot. You can fill in city, towns etc
Which city of Indonesia are you traveling, because prices vary from city to city. Bali is expensive
As mentioned, it all depends on where you eat. Healthy street food is very cheap, meals in restaurants obviously more expensive. In Pemuteran you will likely pay between 30,000 and 50,000 in decent warungs or small rumah makans. Some food in Labuanbajo is more expensive because it has to travel further. If you stick to foods in season, fruit and vegetable meals are very cheap, fish is cheap in both Pemuteran and Labuanbajo.
For souvenirs, it depends what you want - there are some very good quality wooden souvenirs in Bali at fair prices, there are also many very cheap, poor quality souvenirs. What are you looking for?
Transport is still well priced, and the cost of petrol recently went down throughout Indonesia. Note that Pemuteran is 4 hours minimum from south Bali/airiport region, so expect to pay 600,000 for a car - you won't be travelling to Pemuteran by bemo. In Pemuteran there is very little bemo transport - easier to get an ojek. It is a beautiful place especially if you like snorkelling.
HI [VT member 1a15a1],
For European traveler, Indonesia is still a very cheap destination. I traveled throughout the country and for me, prices are overall the same except in Bali. Bali is one of the most known area for beach lover, but still prices aren't that much different comparing to other areas.
If you look which restaurant you're going to dine you could save a few bucks. Menu prices are mostly stated and you can always check from outside, if that too expensive for you walk further and check again. Personally, I find Indonesia is cheap country to travel around.
Hi again Joana,
In Pemuteran there is a bioreef along stretches of the beach - they are doing a great job with reef recovery but obviously it is slow, but worth a snorkel. It is worth paying for a day trip to Menjangan Island for snorkelling - usually they will drop you off in two different spots for some excellent snorkelling.
There is also good snorkelling off some of the islands near Labuanbajo, and if you are doing an overnight boat trip to Komodo, it usually includes some snorkelling - the area around pink beach is very good.
Have a great time.
Hi Daihappy, thank you! that is exactly what i've planned to do in Indonesia. I've already booked the tours :)
