Looking for a place to take 65 and older ladies for a lunch -- there would be about 15-20 of us -- around Lafayette, Indiana -- any suggestions ????
I am from out of state and not too familiar with Indiana. I need ideas of fun things to do and places to visit with a 9 year old during the holidays. We have already explored Indianapolis so need other ideas. Also, any budget friendly places to stay? Any suggestions would really be appreciated. Thanks,

We will be travelling from Louisville, KY to O'hare Int Chicago. We plan to drive up through Indiana and have two nights to stop over. Can anyone recommend places to stay on this route? Many Thanks
Trying to decide which of the amish communities to bring a senior motorcoach tour. Have been looking at lancaster, Dover, or Shipshewana. Which would be the best for a group of seniors? Mostly interested in the cultre/way of life, country tours and of course eating. Any help would be appriciated. Haven't been to either.(although Indiana,i.e. Shipshewana would be closer for us.)
We will be staying a week at our timeshare in Mishawaka. The itinerary so far is maybe a day in Southbend (nortre dame, studebaker), a day in Shipshewana/Amish country, a day at Indiana Dunes Nat'l Park, a day to visit relatives in Fort Wayne. We'll have 2 or 3 more days. Any ideas within a 50-100 miles of Mishawaka? We like to hike and ride bikes, and taste wine. Any restaurant suggestions?
We are planning a major cross-country trip this Spring and need help. We will be traveling this leg of our trip along I70 and are looking for a reasonably priced restaurant for dinner about 1-2 hours east of St Louis. We'd like easy off, easy on to I70. American, Chinese, Italian, Mediteranean food.
I'm heading up to Indiana Dunes in a couple of weeks in a 36 foot motor home. Anyone had any experience with RVs in this area? Last time we took an RV to the northeast area we found it to be very unaccommodating(very few campgrounds for RVs of this size, no dump stations or water in rest areas, difficult to find parking, etc). That was five years ago and we're hoping things have improved.
Also, we haven't been to the dunes before. As I understand it, this is a state park inside a national park??? Where would be the best location to camp to see the dunes and enjoy the beach?
I am looking to rent a cottage/cabin for a weekend this summer for 10 adults. I am running into all kinds of problems because most places will only rent by the week. We are all from Michigan but now live in Chicago and would like to go somewhere no more than 3 hours away. I was thinking St.Joe, Southaven, Michigan City in IN, or even somewhere in Wisconsin.
We need a beach within a very short walk.
Hot tub, central ac, firepit and pets allowed would also be great but we are willing to part with these amenities.
I have tried vrbo, great rental, ect. I guess I am looking for some personal advice.
Any ideas of places?
how do i find rates and reservations?
I don't own a car at the present time but need to trip from
South Bend to Bloomington, IN.
I thought about going to Indianapolis first by Greyhound or AmTrak then using the airport shuttle to Bloomington.
It takes, however, too much time because both of them require to transit at Chicago.
Could anybody let me know another options?
This year I should start going to 'Univercity of Indianapolis' in Greece. But, I m wondering if the paper, that i ll take when i finish, is recognized in America, or its just a lie. I would like to continue my education(MASTER) in America, New York, Boston..
So, if anyone knows something about 'univercity of indianapolis' in Greece, please, let me know.
Or if u know some good American univercity in Greece, Athens.
Where is a nice place to stay in Harlan that has a good restaurant and lounge and decent entertainment in or within short walk of hotel?
I'm from the UK but working in Indianapolis over the summer, and have a friend coming over soon and was wondering what the area has to offer for things to do in the day time and night time?
We're both 19, have access to a car and are just looking for anything, but preferably things more geared to people our age.
Thanks for any help
I am considering studying at the University of Notre Dame in Bloomington, and was wondering what there is to do around there - is there a vibrant student community, are there discos, bars, cultural events? How diverse are the organizations, available courses outside the university (music/language/...), sports facilities? If hardly, what is the nearest happening place and how far is it?
Anyone want to meet up for a beer or two? I live in Indianapolis and have been a member of VT since November 2001. I want to meet some VTers to have a drink with and share some stories. A few hours, a few beers and a few people... what could be better? deryck
Hi everyone, well my aim is very simple.. It's to find contacts in the USA and more precisely in Indiana, near Crawfordsville. I'll be there from the beginning of october to the end of november for my job. If u're interested in meeting a french guy then just mail me. See ya Paul
Another question: My hubby and I will be spending Friday night in West Lafayette....on East State Street to be exact. I think it is near the Mackey Arena. We are big fans of sports bars, cheap beer, and cool local hangouts. Any suggestions for bar-hopping?
My husband and I will be speding one night at the Trump Casino in Gary, Indiana. I haven't heard great things about this place, but our reservations are in for Valentine's Day, and what's done is done. We will be there only for a short time (we're driving to the casino from the Purdue University basketball game Saturday night). So we'll get to the casino probably around 9:30 or 10:00 p.m., and we leave the next day. We just wanted to gamble for a few hours and figured we'd try Trump Casino. How are the restaurants in the casino? What about the casino next door, The Majestic? Will we be safe in the casino/hotel/parking lot? Thanks for any info!
Come join and meet in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 28th. So you may ask what we will do? It really just depends on the members that plan to attend. As Indianapolis is not a place where many members are from I expect the crowd to be a little smaller. If so I would like to sit and share some drinks and conversation at Claddagh's Irish Pub. There also might be a chance members like NateWill or some others who are under 21 will attend, and if this is the case I would more than happily move it to a location we can all enjoy each others company. There will be more information soon on the details, but invite as many people as you would like, members and nonmembers can and should be invited. Let's make the most of what I believe the first meeting in Indianapolis. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me here at VT or through email at [email]. Best wishes, Deryck
We will be traveling to Cedar Lake for a wedding on Friday, Jan 2 from Dayton, Ohio. Any suggestions on where to spend NYEve? Living in rural Maine we are interested in more remote or rural possibilities by ourselves or with some others. Thanks for suggestions
Next month I have to drive down to St. Louis from Chicago on a business trip. Looking at the map I thought I might take an extra day heading back and visit Indianapolis and Nobleville (which I saw some interesting photos of on here). Does anybody have any comments on interesting sights to see on the St. Louis - Indianapolis - Chicago route? Robert W.
Do anyone here live in Hagerstown? How far is it from Indianapolis?
