India

What things can you recommend to buy in India?

Hi

I will travel my first time to India (2 days in Calcutta and Sikkim).
Perhaps I will buy a good tea, tee, saffron and some indian spices.
What other things can you recommend to buy in India?

Thanks in advance.

Besides tea, saffron and spices......typical (handmade) products are always the best souvenirs to take home like: Kalamkari and Sari

When I led tours throughout India, which always included the Kashmir region, one of the popular items my tour members bought, was a Kashmir carpet. It is one of the things too big to carry, so they always had the carpet(s) shipped home.

Thx a lot.
And what about to buy 100% cashmere pullover? Where can I buy in Calcutta and Sikkim?
Are the prices much different than in Europe?

In Kolkatta go to Dakinapan. You will find saris and other fabrics/garments at reasonable rates and good quality. Milan mela is another amazing place to shop. The range of products is amazing and they are all made by local artisans.
What to buy in India really depends on your interests. The range is astounding! Handmade fabrics and weaves of each region , spices , tea, handicrafts-- the range is so wide .
Have a wonderful trip and come back for a longer one !
