If you have enough time visit the desert town of Jaiselmir, and besides the castle you can go camel trekking.
Udaipur would be my second choice with the beautiful lake and historic buildings
Then of course you have the two cities of Jaipur and Jodhpur

Hi - welcome to VT! Can you tell me when you plan to travel and how long you plan to spend in Rajasthan? That will help with my answers. To start, the main cities are Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Udaipur. Pushkar is a great place if you can catch the annual Camel Fair. There are several other places worth visiting/stopping as well.

You can travel easily and comfortably by train, bus, private car with driver, even by plane. All are fairly inexpensive modes of transportation. I recommend staying in guest houses where you will have a private room/bath, breakfast, and the opportunity to meet other travelers and to get helpful info/advice from the local owners, who will usually treat you like family.

One thing I always recommend if your timing works is to go to a fair/festival. Along with the Pushkar Camel Fair there are the smaller Camel Festival in Bikaner, the Desert Festival in Jaisalmer, the Marwar Festival in Jodhpur, a couple in Jaipur, and a few more in other cities.

I have been to all of the above mentioned places and more in Rajasthan so feel free to ask any questions. If you like take a look at my India pages - [original VT link] - for ideas/information. I'd also suggest reading my Warnings or Dangers Tips - [original VT link] - about staying safe and healthy in India.

The last thing I'll add for now is don't try and do too much especially if it's your first visit. India is a big country that runs on its own time but for almost everyone that visits it's fascinating! Good luck with your planning.

Jaipur,Pushkar, ranthambore,Udaipur and many other places, depend on the number of days you want to stay in Rajasthan, bcoz every city in unique in its own way and cannot be visited in 1 or 2 days
