almost 400 year old city of Hydrabad is famous for Pearls and Diamond trading centers.
It is also very famous for delectable cuisine.
Waterfront's phad kea mou (noodles with tasty bok choy), Hydrabadi Biryani(rice well cooked with choice of meat) & Paya (Lamb trotters broth) at Madina Hotel or Hyderabad House are must haves.
Charminar is a famous landmark that attracts tourist from all around for rickshaw rides & ruins of golkonda fort is also in list of tourist attractions.
It is a very relaxed sort of city, friendly people. Shopping is tricky as in all parts of India, one must know how to bargain.
It is the city of Nawabs(Prince) with their rich culture and heritage.
1. Most of the people will stare occasionally at you if you are fair-skinned. Otherwise, it's a relaxed sort of city (Old Hyderabad) with plenty of old world charm like that in Old Lucknow, both enjoying old Nawabi culture and cuisine.
2. Sep-Oct will still be warm, so be prepared to become a bit sun-burnt.
3. Lots of wonderful places to visit, esp. Salar Jung Museum.

And thank you [VT member 13f587] for your recommendations.
Hope you enjoy your time in the city of pearls,
You've got some wonderful responses here Acirin. I would like to add to those, make sure you have a ride, hire a cab from a reputable agency. Traffic might be a problem if you are a pedestrian in busy shopping areas.
If you are adventurous with food, try out the delectable Hyderabadi cuisine. Also, be careful with your belongings, not that it isn't safe, but its always better to be safe than sorry!
