In August we (a late 20s couple) are traveling from Siofok to Budapest to Bratislava. Do you think we should take a train or a bus? Also, do you have any recommendations on which train or bus company and if the tickets should be purchased in advance?
Many thanks for your assistance :)
I'm an Indian. I want to visit my friend in Hungary. I will be staying at their place for two months. So he is my host and also sponsoring my travel cost i.e. the flight cost. I just finished studies in mid 2015, so I'm still unemployed. VFS wrote to me that my friend has to submit last 3 months' salary and bank statement, sponsorship letter and invitation letter issued by Hungarian office of immigration and a cover letter. But they also asked he needs to submit tax returns of three years. But he is working in Austria in last two years for few months (didn't live in Austria more than 6 months) and will be back to Hungary before my trip. And the personal taxes are deducted from salary. And I guess the rest tax is 0% as my friend's annual salary is under 11000 euro. I myself don't pay tax yet, so I don't understand these much. They didn't say much that my friend has to send those in post or what, original or copy...nothing. In other hand, my father worked here for 30 years, so he has all the statements and tax papers. Can it be like I show my father is sponsoring me and my friend is hosting me? I can give my father the money back later (though I don't know if they need to see by whose money I bought the ticket). Also I don't know which thing to do first i.e. booking air ticket or insurance, but before everything I need to be sure of the visa documents. So I'm not sure what to do and what documents to submit. Kind advices are welcome. Thank you.
I mainly need a Simcard to receive card. How much minimum is to buy a Prepaid Simcard ? how much is the balance after that ? How long is the card valid ? How much is the next minimum balance topup ? Maybe someone can call to Telecom, Vodafone, Telenor etc.
i have one question about the train system in europe. im thinking to visit graz from budapest, however, im wondering how i should buy a ticket for it coz i am also planning to explore in vienna. so if i buy a round ticket between budapest and graz, could i get off in vienna? i honestly doubt it coz its an international train in that case. so, maybe should i buy a round ticket between budapest and vienna and between vienna and graz separately? if someone can give me any tip, I would deeply appreciate it.
thanks in advance :)
We really miss the Kürtőskalács buns/cakes from Budapest. I´ve found some recepies, but I´m not sure what material the "roll" is? Is it wooden or metal? I think it looked like some sort of metal at market, but at some photos it looks like it is wooden?
I hope it is o.k. to ask this in here, I dodn´t know where else to ask!
We plan to travel to Hungary in mid March (daughter and niece living in Budapest). We enjoy winter mountaineering, trekking, climbing, cycle touring etc but understand that the huts will be closed in the winter. Is there any low level trekking worth doing? Wondering about flying to Kraków and then walking towards Hungary for a few days. It's difficult to find any information in the UK. What would others recommend? We are not into sightseeing historical buildings. We prefer physical challenges and enjoy wild camping. Again, not sure if the weather would be conducive to camping etc. any advice or recommendations welcome.
Buddy of mine and I have just started looking into taking a waverunner trip from someplace near Budapest and out to the Black Sea. Anyone know if this is possible? Where I can find more information on it? I've taken very long trips in the past - and this one could be fun.
My family is planning to visit Hungary coming August. We are landing in Budapest. This will be our first time in Hungary and I'm very confused. There are a lot of interested places to visit - but where should I base my accommodation. We are renting a car as well. We will have to children with us 10, 14 years. What are the must-go attractions and sighting for the first time in Hungary. We love nature. Thanks very much - any other suggestions are more than welcome.

Do you know where is possible to find a shop in relation with dietetic complements and similars like garcinia cambogie, ganoderma, alphalicoic calcic, L-lisina ..... near Balaton lake or in Budapest.
Another Hungary question: I have a Hungarian license which is running out, it lasted for ten years 2004-2014, Is it normal for Hungarian licenses to only last ten years? How long do most people in Hungary hold their license for? Thank you for any responses,
Back in 2000 I took a train to Rudabanya and walked to the Aggteleki caves. I think this country railway has been decomissioned, it doesn't appear any more in the MAV timetable ELVIRA. Can someone please confirm that this is the case (I can't type the accent on Rudabanya on this keyboard, though I don't think this is the problem)...
Going to rent a car in Budapest and drive to Croatia, Slovenia and maybe Austria. I heard of horror stories of rental agencies trying to take advantage of people. Any recommendations on best companies?
I' m considering traveling throughout Hungary in a rented car. Has anyone done a trip like this in the past? I don't speak Hungarian and I was wondering about communication problems. Thinking about going in September (hopefully, after most of the tourists have left). Any thoughts and or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Can anyone provide information on this historic property in Pécs?
There is a bronze marker on the building with a date but I can not read the name of the person it refers to.

Is it possible to do a day trip from Budapest to Godollo and Holloko with public transportation? How much time should we allow for transportation and sightseeing. We are going in the month of August.

Can anyone tell me something about MOGY (Magyarok Országos Gyűlése )?
I can figure out what it is from pics and videos on youtube. But is there any political or religious organization behind it? Or is it really a spontaneous volunteers based event?
I was considering to attend at least one of the days, together with a couple of friends and their 11 yo child.
Thanks for any information about the event.
Are there any bus tours (1-day trip) from Budapest to Szekesfehervar? We are planning a river cruise next year, and hope to stay a few extra days in Budapest. I have been to Szekesfehervar twice, in 1965 and 1976, and would like to see the city again. Thank you.
I am wanting to do a day trip to include Esztergom, Visegrad, Szentendre, or maybe just two of those.
The day we have free to do this, 30 August, annoyingly is between seasons with the boat line that goes up there.
Their high season literally ends a few day earlier, and low season starts a few days later.
So not sure how to get up there.
I saw Viator offer a Day bus trip but the reviews on it have been pretty average, and quite expensive ($120NZD per person).
I am thinking of maybe train or buses? How difficult is it to fit 2 or 3 of these places in?
Is it better to just do Szentendre? Is there enough to see there to fill up a day?
This is not exactly a "travel" question, although I do intend to follow it up with travel to Hungary. My grandmother was baptised "Orzse." Does anyone know what the English language equivalent is? She called herself Elizabeth, but isn't that "Erzsebet"? Thanks very much for your help.

I will be in Hungary in August 17 for nine days and have rented a car to drive across Hungary, Austria and Croatia. I'm from the U.S. and I only know English and have never driven in Europe. Is it possible to hire a guide to travel with us to help with the language and European driving rules? I'm not looking for a professional company but just someone who wants to travel and needs the money to do so. Any suggestions on how to find someone like this?
I would like to thank everyone in advance for any advice. I will be moving to Miskolc in August for approximately 8 months and was hoping for any tips/tricks that will help me prepare for the move. I'm moving from Canada and curious about housekeeping items such as transportation, local customs, getting a phone, the Internet, etc. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've also got enough time to make some stops if things look interesting. Is there any way I can find out what trains pass through Koszeg?
