Hong Kong

Taxi from Hong Kong International to Shangri La Kowloon

How easy is it to get a taxi at the airport in the evening (8-9 PM)? How much is the fare on average, including luggage? Do the taxi drivers expect a tip, and if so, how much? Do airport taxis take US dollars? Do airport taxis accept credit cards?

As an alternative, are there reasonable limo services? Online, it looks like about $100 US and up.

You shouldn't have problems getting a taxi at the airport. There is a luggage charge per piece, and also a toll fee. I usually round the cost to the nearest 0, eg. if the fare is HK$246, I'll give HK$250. Change money at the airport, as many taxis don't have a credit card machine. Taxi uses a meter. Just make sure the meter is on. For sure limo is more expensive, as a taxi ride will cost half than the limo cost.

There are plenty of taxis outside terminal building. You will noticed the color : red, blue, green.....do not take the red taxi this is expensive.....take the green one this is slightly cheaper.

Taxis are metered......I always stayed in Kowloon I usually pay around two hundred HK dollar depends on traffic plus extra charge with luggage and toll fee

Many drivers do not speak English it is useful if your destination written down in Chinese and showed to the driver
