Hong Kong

What are the closest attractions to HK Airport and where can I leave my luggage?

Hi [VT member 93f85], I'll be spending 3 and 1/2 days in HK. On my last day, my flight to SG leaves at 8:00PM and I'll be checking out from my hotel at 12 noon.

I want to maximize my time and save money at the same time. I'm thinking of leaving my luggage somewhere while I roam around the places not so near from the airport.

Your suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks [VT member 93f85] advance!

You have enough time to stay in the center, just leave your luggage at your hotel when you check out. Is only about 30 mins with Airport Express between city and HKIA. Keep an eye on your watch be on time to the airport for your departure. There is nothing much I know near the airport, most people having long layover prefer to go to the center

From what I've read HKIA is like an hour away from the main center. Are there any other things to do aside from shopping there?

Also, does all hotel allow customers to leave their luggage or just certain ones? Because I'll just be staying in a cheap hotel called Evergreen.

If you take the MTR I meant... Of course any hotel or hostel allowed you to leave your luggage for a day

You have 3 days already in HK you probably seen all the sights, I can't come up what you can do on your last day. If I have a little time left before my flight I just do some window shopping ;-)

Well that is true though! Thank you for your suggestions. One more thing, do you know if it's a good idea to go to Lamma Island on the morning of my last day? xD

That would be a good idea, there are ferry in the morning from Central to Yung Shue Wan every 30 min...check out early from your hotel and take the morning ferry to the island. The ferry trip takes 30 min. Lama is beautiful island to explore but if you go in weekend is very busy

Another option is, if you are planning to take the Airport Express from either Hong Kong or Kowloon station, you can actually check in your luggage ahead of time: mtr.com.hk/en/customer/servi... This is a great service and I've used it before. Simply drop off your luggage and continue on with your itinerary. When you're done, just take the train to the airport and go straight to security and immigration.

Personally, I wouldn't travel too far on the last day, just in case there is a traffic delay. There is plenty to do in the city.

I actually have like a full day ahead as my flight leaves at 8PM. I can wake up early in the event that I need to. As for the check-in, the thing is, I only have a hand carry trolley bag. I wanted to go to Lamma island on my last day. Can you suggest any other attractions nearby airport that is not related to shopping? xD

How much time do you reckon I could spend there? Like the travel to and from if I'll be coming from Kowloon. My last day would be Friday. Is the traffic going to be bad?

For the trip takes 1 hour go and back. The ferry starts operate from 6:30 am and there after every 30 min.

Beware that there are two ports in Lama island, take the ferry from Central HK that goes to YUN SHUE WAN this is closer than the other one

It's up to you how many hours you want to spend in the island.... I spend one day there is nothing much to see like tourist thing, but is wonderful place to stroll around

Check the ferry schedule coming back and certainly be back on time in HK. Traffic occur most in the afternoon

If you haven't been to the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery, you can take the MTR to Tung Chung, the closest town to the airport, leave your luggage there at Citygate citygateoutlets.com.hk/en.as..., take the cable car up and have a vegetarian lunch there. After, take the bus to Tai O village, where you'll find houses on stilts. Then head back to Tung Chung by bus and do some shopping at the outlet, then head to the airport.

hi, I'm living in hong kong. I'd suggest you to stay in lantau island in the last day as the airport just located in this island.

there are two parts in lantau island, tung chung which is shopping centre and nearby the airport, another one is mui wo located in another side of island, it spends about an hour travelling time to airport by bus.

if you wake up at abt 9 in the morning and 8pm flight, which means you have only about 5 hour to spend on the last day including traffic. what I suggested is you check in your luggage at airport and go to mui wo or visiting buddha or tai o (both located in lantau island) then return back to airport latest at 5pm.

hope my suggest can help you.
