WHAT SHOULD I PACK FOR 6 WEEKS WITH 3 KIDS?
Where are you going and how old are the kids?
Remember, you can always find a place to do laundry, so don't overpack on the clothes.
One week... six weeks... six months... you still pack the very same amount of stuff... Do NOT get bogged down with a huge pile of clothes, laundry services are cheap/easy...
Probably you need to figure out what laundry facilities are available at your travel location and whether you will have the laundry done or will do it yourself. When I travel, I will usually wash out underwear and shirts myself. So I would take quick to dry things (no denims). If I was going to send the laundry out, I would want to pack fabrics that weren't delicate - simple cottons, not silk or wool. If I were going to visit laundramats, I might take soap packets.
If you are going where there will be a lot of swimming at least two suits for each person.
When my parents and I went to Europe in 1950 when I was 12 (France, Germany and England) for six weeks (when nylon was the only modern fabric) she packed for me two cotton skirts, two cotton dresses, a nylon blouse and a cotton blouse and a green suit with a blouse (for church or more formal occasions), a coat, a sweater and a headscarf. Plus underwear and socks and a nightgown.
When I went to Europe by myself for six weeks 15 years later, I had two nylon dresses, a knit suit, a sweater, a raincoat, nightgown, stockings, shoes and underwear. I washed things out at night as needed..
I am going to Guyana, South America.
Yes, we know that.
Guyana, ages 16, 12 and 9.
Those kids are old enough to take care of their own clothes. Especially the16 yo. Pack two bathing suits, and about a week worth of clothing for each and make them do their own laundry.
