I am flying from London to Chicago and then getting the City of New Orleans train down to NOLA as I did last year when I stopped for a few days on the way in Memphis. Having done all the usual things there I was thinking of making a 2/3 night stop in Greenwood MS but won't have a car. My question is, is there enough to do there and is there an area which is fairly compact with restaurants, cafes, local shops, things to do. I don't need sophisticated actiivites, shopping malls and fancy night life just a nice laid back place where I can walk around safely and sit out reading my kindle in the sun with a coffee or a drink. I am a 50 something woman travelling on my own but am quite capable - I work in London and have done all my life, living just outside so I am of the view that you have to be moderately careful in any city but would welcome some feedback.
