Grand Turk

Whale watching

I would like to check the whales around Grand Truk but I do not want to spend $ 150,- p.p. without being sure you'll see one. Any tips for local Whale watching trips that offer the fun without ripping you off?

Just a warning that I think applies to Grand Turk, because it applies to most seasonal viewings. Published/advertised "seasons" often exaggerate the time window for good viewing. I have experienced this several times trying to see whales, flamingos, penguins and other "gatherings". There is never a guarantee, but your odds are probably best in the "middle of the season.
Yes, I saw whales, but at a distance and far from the numbers and excitement I hoped for in March in the Dominican Republic three weeks before the end of the "season". And I saw Penguins in Patagonia --12 rather than the thousands that would be present a month later. In both these and some other cases, I asked multiple people about the chances and received much encouragement.
Of course, even in the middle of a "season" you can have bad luck.

Good luck to you.
