I wish to stay in Gengenbach. However, as per Google maps, the apartment is 1.5 km from the train station. Is there any local bus service available in the village.... Especially may be needed after coming late in the evening after sightseeing.
I have no personal experience on Gengenbach, but in general, public transit stops running relatively early in this area. According to Deutsche Bahn's website, the last bus departs the train station at 22:30 on weekdays, 21:27 on Saturdays, and 20:29 on Sundays. I can't say if the buses (7134 and 7160) go near your apartment or not, but Google Maps should indicate the locations of the bus stops nearby. Most likely you will either need to walk or take a taxi, especially late at night.
It's best to ask your landlord. If there is no bus going close to your apartment, maybe s/he can pick you up when you arrive with your luggage. S/he also knows if there are any taxis waiting at the station or if they need to be prebooked.
Have a look here:
You will get the Konus card, which will allow you to take buses and trains in the region, but not the taxis.
Enjoy Gengenbach, it's a beautiful little twon.
