swim, apartment and bringing Dog>

Is the water warm enough to swim in Jan and Feb? What is the best area to rent an apartment in? How hard is it to bring a dog from the USA? Thanks John

Can't help with areas, but Madeira is part of the EU so EU rules/regulations about importing pets apply.

Info here:

I think you may find it too complex to bother with if you do not intend to stay very long.

You'll find average water temperatures here (scroll down):

zoover.co.uk/portugal/madeir...

A bit on the bracing side in Jan/Feb!

We spent a week during March in Madeira. There are no swimming beaches and the water is cold and rough.

Regarding bringing dogs, even if the legislation allows it, you cannot have dogs in apartments unless they are very very small, this applies to residents and visitors.
