Is there a bus that goes directly to Foshan from Hongkong Int'l airport? I will travel to Foshan next month. I am considering staying at CITY HOTEL FOSHAN--is it a good hotel? Please let me know... Thanks!
Yes, there is: trans-island.com.hk/eng/chin...
Departures at 0720, 0815, 1235, 1435, 1635 and 1835. Fare is 220 HKD.
Last time I went to Foshan, I tood the KCR train from Kowloon to Guangzhou and on to Foshan. This train just stops in GZ and you don't have to get off. It may also be possible to take a ferry to Shekou in Shenzhen directly from the airport and take a bus from there. It could save a little time.
I think there is a Skypier service to Shunde (which is part of Foshan). Check with the people you are visiting as to whether this is an option. Dont know about the hotel but I believe it now part of the Intercontinental group so they are usually very good on the mainland (less so on Hong Kong)
Foshan (my home town) is very near Guangzhou. Follow the above posters' recommendation take train or airport ferry to Guangzhou and then taxi over. There is also express bus from HK Airport to Guangzhou but it is a much longer ride. A slightly more "direct" route will actually be take airport ferry to Zhuhai and then take long distance bus from there as it will reaches Foshan before entering Guangzhou, but they are more for the locals who knows their ways, as the bus will just drop you off at the side of the highway and you need to find taxi or other means of transport to the hotel.
It would appear that the Skypier service to Shunde and Guangzhou have been suspended as they no longer appear on the websites for either Skypier or HKIA.
Try the HK Interational Airport Web Site there is a link on Ground Transportation to Mainland China. When I put in Foshan there seems to be a direct bus that will take you directly to the Foshan Carrianna Hotel from the airport.
Yes, that's the CTS bus.

Jocelyn, do you know what GG stands for in the list of transport the web site offers, other than CTS bus there are some other transort offers by "GG" but I cannot find any description of them.
Interesting they cut the ferry services from HK Airport. It has been know that the two airports in Guangdong, Shenzhou and Guangzhou, do not want it to be too easy for users of HK Airport to get easy connections to the mainland in order to force them to fly directly into these two airports instead. Perhaps this was one of the moves to take HK airport out of the mainland connection.
GG stands for GoGoBus.
you check it HK Interational Airport Web Site you can get all your anwser.
yes and no, ferry service has been changed, HK subway now connect to two ports in Shenzhen, things are changing so fast in this parts of the world!
