Florence at Christmas

We are considering a visit to Florence from December 26 to Jan 1. This wil not be our first visit, but the first time spending a full week there. Any suggestions for activities? Any special holiday events? Should the weather be good enough for touring?

We spent Christmas in Rome and Florence a few years ago. The 26th of December everything is closed and so as 1st of January. Public transport is less frequent, so be aware.........Is quiet in the city ideal for sightseeing, hardly no tourist, but museums are out of plan (closed)....the weather is cold

I was there one year between Christmas and New Year for sightseeing. I remember that the weather was bearable when the sun came out. On the days when the fog was down over the Arno, the cold came up through the ground and straight up the legs into the body. Not pleasant at all. Keep warm. If you intend to hire a car to tour around the region, that is a good idea.
