Can you skip lines at Uffizi and Accademia with Firenze card on 1st Sundays when museums are free?
Hi Chuck - I haven't done a free Sunday with the card but I am seeing multiple mentions - including from someone who inquired directly through the card's website - that priority access is indeed possible with the card on these days.
However, that poster's answer from Firenze Card was a year ago and things can change so I'd do as that poster did and email them your question. It's always best to have the most current info straight from the horse's mouth! :O)
The address is at the bottom of the website:
A couple of caveats: while priority access may be possible, the most popular free museums will be mobbed. When they are filled to capacity, EVERYONE must wait until enough visitors leave before more can be admitted. You may also have a wait in security check queues. It's not a day I'd personally choose to do either the Uffizi or Accademia if there's an alternative.
I would attend on the first Sunday of the month if that was the only choice of day. Every easily accessible venue is absolutely mowed out/packed with visitors on these days. For city residents it is the only free time to go too, as reduced rates for residents was abolished to coincide with free first Sundays for all (certainly in Sicily).
