Hello, I would like to visit the Vasari Corridor and I see that there are several options available for booking a tour. Can anyone recommend one that would be the best?
I see that I will probably have to combine the tour with something else, that I might prefer to see on my own, but I understand that; I'm primarily asking for a recommendation of a reliable source, who might be able to give the most historically informative tour.
Check my Florence page and read about it.
Tom, plans are afoot to open the corridor to independent public access (the new director of the Uffizi was the director of the art institute in my city) but it doesn't look to happen by the time of your visit.
I wish I could recommend a tour from firsthand experience but I did find one which does not involve combining it with the Uffizi itself (which I wouldn't personally want to do either as that one well deserves considerable time) or anything else. It's first one on the list of tours involving the corridor on this site:
Additionally, you could call the number provided by the 'offical' website and see what they might have to offer? Their site is being reconfigured as administration of some Florence museums is undergoing reorganization, and is a little vague...
