I'm looking for any advice on finding places to stay and/or companies that move baggage/set up accommodations. Thanks.
Deciding whether or not to take advantage of a great deal on airfare to London but don't want to stay in London. Will have about a week to explore. Will/can have a car. Looking for small towns to explore. Just looking to chill. Any suggestions?
In order to have the visa application approved, you need to show that you have a certain amount of money, the means to look after yourself for the duration of your stay and to get back to your home country on your own. You need to show that you have a reason to return home.. The person who will visit me from morocco is a student who wants to visit the UK for 1 or 2 weeks, they can also stay with me in my house so there is no need to pay for a hotel or anything like that, even food I would provide everything. But we dont know how much money they must show is in the bank account for the visa to be accepted or denied. There seems to be no guideline about any kind of threshold. Does anyone know more about how much money is needed for the visa application to be accepted?
Mrs Flying.Scotland and I are considering a one week canal boat holiday next August / September. We will both be 70, are reasonably fit, and want a trip that goes through small towns and villages with good canalside pubs and nice countryside too. Can anyone suggest what is their favourite canal trips and also any pointers for first time canal boaters. Thanks for any help you can give us. Bruce

Hello,
We are touring around the UK and plan on hiring a small car. We have narrowed our search down to either Avis or Hertz. Does anyone have any experience with either of these?
We plan to pick up from York and drop off at Dover.
Thank you
Hello All, We are touring around the UK with a hire car and would like to see Dover. We will then be traveling to Paris via Eurostar from St Pancras. Can you please suggest drop off locations (outside congestion zone) for our hire car to get back to St Pancras via train. Will most likely be hiring a car with Hertz. Thanks
Besides driving, what are some good ways to get from Heathrow to Zennor in Cornwall?
Will have to use a lot of Pay and Display car parks in a couple of weeks.
How can I pay there: cash, debit card or/and credit card ??
Hi,
I am looking for craft like places to look at for shopping in Dorset, so pottery places/glass places, etc. I know about Poole pottery, but am really looking for small independent craft places. I have searched, but can't really see many places in Dorset (am staying near Sturminster Newton and will have a car, so can travel). If anyone can help, I would be really grateful.
Thanks for reading this even if you can't help :-)

I am planning to explore England by public transport (train/coach) for two weeks in September. So far I haven't really decided about the exact destinations. These could be both Cornwall/Devon as well as Northern England/Yorkshire.
So what are your tips and tricks to get the best deals for train or coach trips. Is booking online and well in advance always the best option? Where should I book then? I have checked the BritRail Passes, which are only available outside the UK, but actually they still seem to be way too expensive even compared to normal fares.
Are there any discount cards or anything like this, which might make sense for me even for a two weeks trip.
Any help is much appreciated. :-)
I would like your ideas of where to use has a base to stay and visit other places by bus ( mainly ) or train. Which is best connected? - My places i wish to visit are, Swindon, Didcot rail centre, Salisbury, Amesbury, Devizes, Marlborough , and Winchester. I would stay 4 or 5 nights, would two bases be any good ? Would not go to all places Thanks.
here are so many options for travel in and around London and I am totally bewildered.
My sister and I (2 seniors) will be arriving at Heathrow on the 25th of August. We will be going to Bath that day and will be renting a car. We will drop our rental car back in Bath on the 6th of September and will travel back to London until the 11th.
So - do I have to go into London to get a train to Bath or is there another option.
Which travel card should I purchase for our days in London - we will be seeing as many sights as possible. Oyster card? Travel card? Card that gets us into museums etc. for reduced prices? We will also need to include transport to Heathrow on the 11th. Is there anything that does it all?
Hi guys

On a map of Cornwall England, is a black and white line from Penzance to Sennen cove via St Buryan. The legend shows main rail. branch rail, freight, rail bus,but does not show a black and white line. Can anybody explain what this is ? Please. Thank you.

Air flights from the UK to Dubai How long does it take?
I have travelled around Europe for many years, and have always found reasonable priced hotels in all grades from one star to five star. Now when ive turned to my own country ,England , it seems that hotel prices are very high in Oxford is this correct ? and why. Thank you
Hi, I'll be arriving at Heathrow early June at 9 p.m. I need to get as close to Lakenheath as I can. Train, bus? I have someone to meet me in the Lakenheath area. Was thinking Ely station? But I can't find a train (or bus) schedule to know if they run that late.
How would you do it if you were me? And is the train expensive, like more than 10-15 US dollars?
Thank you!
Hello
I'm looking into bicycle day trips in the Greater London. As we'll have folding bikes, taking public transportation to get us there or back is no problem.
I found the following site but am interested in other recommendations:
Thank you.
We are scheduled to drop off our rental car at Enterprise at 59 Godinton Road in Ashford and then proceed to the Ashford International Rail Station to board our Eurostar train. It looks as if the train station is about a half mile from the car rental agency. Is this walkable ( relatively safe?) If not, can anyone recommend an alternative to get to the train after dropping off our car?

Hello
I'm working on a two-week bike trip this summer in Devon, Somerset, and Gloucestershire, and need to check the bus routes available in case we get a bit tired along the way. That would be a backup to train routes:
What are good online tools to check which bus routes are available, each with their schedule?
Thank you.
I had thought we were going to do a trip to Scotland again this August and while I think we will still fly in and out of Edinburgh, I've been looking south of Edinburgh and am now thinking we may spend part of the trip in England and part in Scotland.
The place I know I want to go is Alnwick Castle and then I saw that was near Hadrian's wall and then Mr. Dabs said what about the Lake District and now I have twice as much as I have time. So if I do a loop from Edinburgh down to Alnwick, over to Hadrian's wall and then up to Oban (I really want to see Mull), are there any stops between Hadrian's Wall and Oban? It looks to be 4-5 hours by car and that's a long way to drive with nothing in between.
If I were to find a day or two for the Lake District, is it ridiculously crowded in late August? I think it will be midweek so at least not the weekend. Is it worth the trip from Hadrian's wall down for just a day or so? Personally I think adding the Lake District is too much, I'd end up trimming Scotland to almost nothing
I understand that the off-peak tickets are only valid after 9:30 in the morning. But I haven't been able to find out if they are also bound to a specific time in the afternoon. Can they be used on any train when going back? Or is there a certain rush hour, when all the commuters travel back and the off-peak ticket is not valid? I don't want to be bound to a specific train, but the difference between this ticket and an anytime return is more than 11 GBP so I'm thinking about getting it. This is for the London-Cambridge-London trains.
Thank you for your help.
Hi there - my friend and I are flying into Heathrow airport and going to Plymouth straightaway in end Apr. Stay for about abt 5-days and wish to do some day trips to Exeter/Cornwall/Devon by train , thereon we plan to head to Liverpool n Manchester (2/3 days each) and then head on to London for abt 3/4 days before flying out. BritRail English Pass offers a 8-day flexi at 290 pound/psn (the price seems to have gone up since I last goggled). Would appreciate some advice on better ways (in terms of fares) to travel around and suggestions on places to visit. Thanks n regards.

My girlfriend and I want to travel the world for 1 year. We will have about £24500 ($37300) and we will be mainly staying in hostels. We want to visit China, India, Southeast Asia and Indonesia for about 4.5 months. Australia and New Zealand for about 6 weeks overall. Central America for 2.5 months and South America for 3.5 months. They are just rough guides. We will be mainly travelling over land from place to place and only flying when it's necessary. Do we have enough money? Any advice and tips are welcome, thanks :)
Good morning/afternoon. I need to travel from London to Salzburg Austria, any suggestion on best way to do it and any ideas of taking the train between the two cities. We can travel to Munich if it's easier and hire a car to Salzburg if need be.
