I would like to know directly from Salvatorian living in San Salvador, how the life is. Is it really as dangerous as I heard to the point that will considering taking my family there to live? I am latin leaving in Colombia so I know about danger from the latin point of view. Some times foreign and locals living outside tent to exaggerate. Are there good schools, good life there? kindly reply to [email]
I'm going to El Salvador, San Salvador in November for five days, I was wondering how much money should I bring for food and transport my hotel is already paid for. Thank you for your help.
Any suggestions on car rental companies? I can’t seem to find any reviews on car rentals and the few I found on Google were from trip advisor and are very negative towards Alamo car rental @ the international airport. Am I better off just taking taxis?
My wife is a Salvadorean citizen and lived for 20+ years in america, but was an over-stayer, she now lives with me in the UK and i recently got screwed out of £1200 because apparently you need a US visa to 'change plane' in america.
I can't find any direct flights from here to El Salvador, does anyone know what the best way would be to get there?

I'm going to El Salvador for 10 days with 3 friends, planning on traveling San Salvador - Lago Coatepeque - Parque Nacional Los Volcanes - Juaya - Apaneca - Tacuba - El Tunco. Is it easy to get around the Ruta de las Flores part by bus or will we constantly need to go back to Santa Ana to make it to our next destination? Will it be easier to just get a car for the whole trip or is renting a car more expensive and too much hassle for risk of theft or accidents?
alguien sabe alguna compañia que tenga busetas de taxi para 32 para trasnportar de aeropuerto a la zona rosa???? gracias
if i were to go to el salvador how much money would i need
I will be travelling to San Salvador on a last minute whim this Fri-Tue. If anyone knows of any family memebers or friends that I can pay to show me around that would be great! I just want to do local food, drinks and culture. I work for a large food distibutor in the US and can be considered a "foodie". I will write a short article in our motnhly newsletter which is nationwide with over 100,000 subscribers.
Any recommendations on surf tours? I am looking to spend some time around La Libertad and the "East".
Hi I am an American citizen married to a Salvadorean my husband was granted voluntary departure early this year. We are awaiting consular processing so that he may return legally to the US. I would like to await the whole process in El Salvador algon with my 2 children that we have together. I am clueless as to what i need to do before going and while I am there. Do we need visas to stay for more than 90 days? If so where do I obtain information on getting the visa. Plus what other documents do i have to have before leaving the US. I do not know how long the visa process will take and I would like to be prepared.
We are planning to travel to El Salvador in December 2011.
Any specific tips if we're to go with kids.
They will be 3 and 5 at time of travel.
We already booked our flights and hotels in El Salvador because we would love to see it since it should be little but beautiful. We also rented a car so that we can go around by ourself but now I saw a lot of advises (also of the italian government)to NOT go around alone in El Salvador without local guides because it became to dangerous.
And now I really don't know what to do.... Anybody is living in El Salvador and can give me some words about the situation? I know about the crimes but I thought that it would be most among the criminal bands. Should it be better perhaps to spend some days in El Salvador and than travel to Nicaragua which should be more safe??
I would really appreciate some help to decide! Thanks!!
hi im traveling next month and dont want to pay alot for a few nights stay in el salvador i want to know some prices on cheap hotels in san salvador thanks
im traveling to el salvador next month and was wondering how long is the tourist card good for...is it 30 days or 90 days? i want to stay for 3 months and i would love any advice for traveling there.
Hi, I will be arriving in San Salvador airport and I really don't want to go into San Salvador.
Can you recommend a shuttle service or taxi to take us to Suchitoto or some other nice town not very far from theairport, to spend our first night?
What might I expect to pay for this transport?
I am planning to fly from the US to Nicaragua this summer, pick up a friend who lives there, and both of us fly from Managua to San Salvador round trip. (Hablo español suficiente para defenderme, incluso para contar chistes!) Ideally we'd spend a week. What interests me most is the history of the 1980's conflict. What I need to know:
1. Are there any tour services in El Salvador for specifically political tourism? How can I contact them?
2. What's the best airline to take from Managua to San Salvador-a decent price, but safe also!
3.Any good websites you can advise me on? Don't need history, just practical survival advice for tourists: transportation, lodging, food, etc.
You can also write to me directly at [email] ¡muchissimas gracias!
We will be visiting Suchitoto in early 2010 and like to hire an Eng./Sp. translator for one or two days. Is this possible to do in Suchitoto?
If you want to climb Santa Ana or Izalco I know there are police guided tours leaving at 11am. But are they leaving every day, even if there would be no other tourist than me who wants to go that day?
My first intention was to visit Cerro Verde on two separate days (from Santa Ana) to climb both volcanoes. If I should choose just one, which one is the best to climb?
In a few months I will visit El Salvador and I have just started to do some planning. I will spend about 10 days in El Salvador and so far I think my itinerary can look something like this:
Day 1 - Arriving in San Salvador around noon.
Day 2 - San Salvador
Day 3 - To Tacuba
Day 4 - Parque Nacional El Imposible
Day 5 - Parque Nasional El Imposible
Day 6 - To Ataco
Day 7 - To Santa Ana
Day 8 - Vulcán Izalco (daytrip from Santa Ana)
Day 9 - Vulcán Santa Ana (daytrip from Santa Ana)
Day 10 From Santa Ana to Santa Rosa de Copan in Honduras (I don’t think I can make it to Copán Ruinas in one day)
What do you think? Is it plausible?
If I can get one or two days more to spend in El Salvador I want to go to the beach, but don’t know where. I would like to go somewhere with a relaxed atmosphere (where I can lay in a hammock reading, listening to the waves) and not too far away from the other places I plan to visit. Any suggestions?
Does anyone have information about the above hotel which is just west of La Libertad.
Ricardo de Canada
Does anyone have a current e-mail address for the above hotel?
Ricardo de Canada.
