How can I travel from Dusseldorf airport to Aachen and vice versa? How long would the journey be?
There are hourly Regional Express trains that go directly from the airport to Aachen. You can also either take a "Euro Bahn" to Düsseldorf Main Train Station or Regional Express train to Cologne. Change there for a train to Aachen. Travel time is between 1 hour 35 minutes on the direct train and 1 hour 55 minutes with a change of train.
The fare is under the NRW Transit Authority. One way fare is EUR 21.40, but check the website for day cards or other options.
By train it is 1 1/2 hours or a bit more, with one change of train in Cologne or Düsseldorf.
The others are correct, bahn.de/i/view/USA/en/index.... and a few trains don't require a change/are direct. The departure's from the airport are every 5 minutes or so and about the same time to the Dusseldorf HBF. Depending where you are going in or around Aachen there are several bus connections directly out the front of the station in Aachen, or taxis too. I have used the bus to transfer to Eupen in Belgium, nice trip.
See you there hopefully!
Good tips also for me!
Maurizio, are you going to take a flight from Milano Malpensa to Düsseldorf for the next VT meeting, perhaps on May 21st?
I still have to check some flights Nico. I will do it soon.
