Hi! We'll be going to Dubai this October for 5days, can you recommend hotel (budget to moderate type) that's in a great vicinity to shopping, restaurants and any landmarks? And also what can you recommend a must-do or visit for first timers?
Thank you so much guys!
Guys I have a 33watt 110V hair straightener, would a 80watt voltage converter be sufficient to convert 220V to 110V voltage in Dubai? Thanks
I haven't been able to get a straight answer on this. Arriving Terminal 3 - In transit lounge - then departing Terminal 3. So not staying or going through Customs or collecting luggage. Is there access to Duty Free Shop in the transit /departure are Terminal 3?

Friends, Question is for expats in Dubai , expect for the ones who have been given a car by their Company. How do you travel ? is there a facility for sharing a cab or bus service to all major locations , at least to and fro nearest Metro stations? I am looking at certain economical options to begin with, I will be at Media City. Appreciate your response.

I'm not sure if I'm in the right place to ask such questions, but I will try.
I received a job offer, so I am moving to Dubai for one year (maybe more) in August. Even though I have been to Dubai for a very short trip last year, I didn't realize how expensive this city can be, especially regarding to the accomodation.
And because my contract is more or less an internship with a relatively limited salary, I am looking for a shared flat, where I can have my own and fully furnished room (ideally but not necessarily with enclosed bathroom). I will work in one of the Dubai free zones, next to Jumeirah lakes tower (so very close to Dubai Marina), so in case there is a close and not that expensive neighborhood for living, in a walking distance from metro/bus station, it will be more than appreciated.
Anyway I have absolutely no idea about prices and cost of living. I only found 3 advert webpages offering a shared accomodation (DubaiClassified, Expatriates, Dubizzle) with price range from 2500 up to 7000 or even more dirhams. I don’t know what is considered to be too cheap and too expensive, however as I am limited with my expenses, I am willing to spend no more than 4000 AED for an accomodation (ideally between 2500-3700 AED for a single room). So I am not sure, if my expectations are not set up for a disappointment.
I also found that it’s pretty difficult to find the shared accomodation with western expats roomates (it’s not my preference though) and most of Asians living in the Dubai diaspora are not willing to share their flat with someone from a different culture (I understand why).
So, I would like to ask you about your experiences and picks. For instance, can you tell me which neighborhoods are the most convenient, in your opinion? Are my expectations too high? What should I take care of when searching for an accomodation in Dubai? Someone told me that accomodation is a fast moving comodity in Dubai, so it’s almost impossible to find one before I arrive. Is it true?
So, to make it clear, my preferences are (in this order):
- single and fully furnished room
- enclosed bathroom
- convenient location (in the meaning of a public transporation)
- Internet and DEWA included
Do you think, it’s real to find a deal and offer like this, for 3000-3700 AED?
Hi All. This is my first flight. I am travelling to San Francisco from India via Dubai. I have only 1.5 hours between my connecting flights. Both flights are emirates only. My friends told me I might go out of the security check if am a bit careless and that it might lead me to missing my flight. This has increased the pressure on me. Would really appreciate if some one can brief me on the process involved .
we are a couple on a 12 hour (flight to flight) layover in dubai from 6.30 am to 6.30pm Sunday 21st June(RAMADAN)
I have the following itinerary: arrive by cab from airport to madinat jumeirah/burj al arab zone and have breakfast there somewhere, any hotel recommended? As at Ramadan no restaurant serve food I guess, if any, please advise?
After breakfast I thought we will head out for photos near beach and burj al arab since it is going to be still early and we'd better aim to the places who do not have opening time first.. and hopefuly being early morning it would not be super super hot...
then cab to the dubai mall which i guess opens at 10am even at ramadan? and spend there the hottest hours of the day...
then jumairah mosque for more pics and end the day with the souks/creek, at that point we will be closer to the airport and won't need rush that much
We need to be at the airport by 4.30, so this is a 8/9 hrs itinerary...
If anyone can recommend a place for breakfast with maybe nice views next to the burj al arab it would be much appreciated. Does anyone know how much could cost to cab everywhere approx?
Will a t shirt and long pants be decent clothing for me (girl) or do I need to cover my elbows..

I will be visiting my relative in dubai. I want to know how it is possible and what both of us need to do for making this possible.
I plan to get a transit visa for 96 hours if possible.
I need to know exact specifics on the following:
1) I want to visit a reletive in dubai who is prepared to arrange for visa. On an Indian Passport will I get the 96hr transit visa at the airport after landing. What are the fees.. again different sites quote different fees?
2) Is a confirmed hotel reservation required What other documentation may be required? I will have an e-ticket for the forward journey.
4) Is medical insurance required even for the 96hr transit visa?
If anyone with Indian passport has done this kinda stopover at Dubai recently pls let me know the exact procedure/your experience! Appreciate your answers! THANK YOU
Hello Everyone. So initially I planned a vacation in Istanbul - However, due to time restraints I've to delay my trip to Istanbul. So thought Dubai would be a good alternate for the few days I have.
Okay So what I'm looking for is, the day I land(this Friday), I'd need company to hit the club. How do I go about that? I tried Travbuddy but over 90% of their members in Dubai section aren't active for over a month. Any other options?
Secondly, I'd like to play some Tennis and Snooker. Would be great if you're interested in either sport or know someone who might be interested in Marina area. Also let me know if there's some sports forum for Dubai where one could find partners.

I have a 12 hour layover between a flight from Kochi, India, to Atlanta in late January. I hold a US passport. I'd like to get out to see a bit of Dubai but it's looking to me like I can only get a transit visa if I have a hotel reserved in Dubai. Am I correct about this? (I haven't seen other people mention this in my research on the subject).
