stopover in dubai!

hi guys

i need to book a flight to karachi in april and all the flights have a stop at dubai. my initial plan was to visit dubai but i was considering a stopover instead of paying for a flight to karachi and then another one to dubai, but i am so confused on the stopovers and how they work if i want at least a two night stay?

any advice?

would it be cheaper if i choose a stopover rather than booking a separate flight?

leaving from YUL (montreal, canada)...

Hi - when we were heading to India we booked a stopover in Dubai. It was cheaper than booking separate flights. I'd compare prices on sites such as travelocity, etc. and the actual airlines' site. Check it as a multi-destination.

If you are Canadian be sure to check on the visa rules. For a time, Canadians were not permitted to get a visa on arrival. Not sure if that still applies.

Enjoy Dubai!

As a rule, two separate tickets are usually more expensive than one ticket with a stopover included. It is usually considered a stopover if it is more than 4 to 6 hours, unless that is the next possible connection. If you are working with a travel agent, let them do the research for you and give you all the options.

Yes it would normally be cheaper to have a stop-over than to book two separate flights. Most airlines have special stop-over deals with hotels so check that out too.

As Donna said: Canadians still have to apply for a visit visa to the UAE, and do not automatically receive one upon arrival. So speak to your travel agent / airline / hotel.

Check out emerites airline. Dubai is their hub and the give free layover accommodations with long lay overs, food included. I had a 15 hr going and a 20 hr on the return and use everything and tour Dubai twice for free. Things are expensive there, but I had free room and food. I spent less than 20 usd and explored and had a great time

If your Canadian passport holder as remember you don’t need transit visa. But if stop of in Dubai then will need a visa, you can get one from UAE Embassy from what I last knew it’s over 200 dollars.

You can buy ticket from Dubai many different airlines; good airlines possible could be bit cheaper Ethiopian airlines Toronto – Dubai cost in April 1272 CAD 1 month ticket.

Emirates cost 1400 CAD for 1 month ticket.

Fly Dubai goes to Karachi 1 month ticket cost 217. 44 (CAD)

I hope my information helps you decided what option are open for you.

As everybody above has suggested, a ticket with stopover will be the best choice, although crazy things happen no long-hauls which one cannot be relied on usually...
