tell me about this place....

I'll be spending one nite in Drumcondra, my first even in Ireland! What's it like there? Can you walk from downtown Dublin ( I'm guessing "no")? Went on the dublin bus website but couldn't find how to catch one to Griffith St., but I'm not worried about that. I'll figure that out when I get to Dublin next Sunday morning!

Drumcondra is a nice suburb about 4 miles outside the city centre. You could walk into town but I would not advise doing so at night as some of the places you would have to pass are not the best in the city. I think that you prob mean Griffth Avenue which is one of the longest streets in the world so make sure you know where on the avenue you are staying! The 11,11A and (elusive) 11B go to Home Farm road and the 13 passes the Garda station on Griffith Avenue. But loads of buses go out that way. There are lots of fun local pubs in that part of the world.
