24 Hours in Doolin  (1 Answer)

Hey we are heading to Doolin this weekend and it's becoming increasingly difficult to plan some fun things for us 6 ladies on a mini hen day/night. We had the ted tour arranged but yesterday this was cancelled on us - so kinda at a loose end?
Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Traditional pub songs  (6 Answers)

First trip to Ireland coming up in June, and I'm a violinist with a soft spot for Celtic music. Planning to spend a night in Doolin listening to pub music. My question is this--what are some of the most common songs played in this setting? If I were able to convince someone to let me join in, I'd like to learn a few of them in advance! :) Thanks!

Hi :)
How do I get to Doolin By bus? As far as I understand, bus EIREANN departs from dublin to doolin three times a day, which means that if I arrive in dublin at 10 a.m., I am first in doolin at 8: 00 pm... Is there any other more flexible buslinie?

Birthday in Doolin  (4 Answers)

Spending a few days, of the 10 I have in the area, in Doolin this coming Spring, and I'm wondering which pub would be most fun to celebrate my birthday (June 2) at. Hoping for a place that offers good food, good music and a lively crowd. I'm a Canuck (Canadian) and this will be my first time in beautiful Ireland. I have been told that either McGann's or McDermott's would be good bets. Anyone have any opinions on either?

Best time for Doolin?  (11 Answers)

I'm a 21 year-old male looking at staying in Doolin for a week or so next year, most likely at the Allie River Hostel. Can anyone tell me what time of the year is the best time to visit this village? (Weather/prices/less tourists). Any other advice on this village would be appreciated.

Can we pick up a car in Doolin?

We'll be on Inis Meain in April, and would like to go from there to Doolin for a Saturday night stay. Can we arrange to pick up a rental car there? Saturday night or Sunday? We'd be returning it to Dublin Tuesday. Major rental companies' online forms all seem to off only airport rentals.

Staying in Doolin, no car, how difficult to get around?  (1 Answer)

I'd like to stay a few days in Doolin and take some boat tours and bus tours. What can anyone recommend as a good central locations/hotel where I can easily walk to the pier, etc? I don't mind walking several km. I don't want to waste money on taxis. I'd love to stay at the Ballinalacken Castle Hotel but can't get an idea on how far it is from the pier, restaurants, etc. Thanx

Aran Islands ferries  (3 Answers)

I'm off to County Clare in august and spending several days in Doolin, I know there are two or three ferry companies serving the Aran Islands but I am unsure as to how far in advance I'd need to book a ferry for a day trip to any of the islands. Is it possible to just turn up on the day or is advance booking required?

accomodation off season

Have tried to email Mcgann's B&B about 3 times as I have heard it is great but they have not replied, and am having trouble finding any other B&B's which are open at the beginning of March. The ones I have contacted all advise they are not open at that time of the year. I am looking for somewhere within walking distance to Doolin centre for the 8th and possibly the 9th March 2008. Does any one have any suggestions.

O'Connor's Pub  (1 Answer)

Less than 3 years ago, my wife and I stayed at the Aranview Hotel and we ate at O'Connor's Pub. The Irish Stew that I had that evening was one of the most delicious meals that I ever had. The menu indicated that the base for the sauce was Guinness. We would like to return for another meal someday, but in the meantime is it possible to get the recipe for the Stew?
Thank you.

On our way to Doolin...  (2 Answers)

Hi Folks! My friend and I are Doolin-bound on September 2, 2006.

I've found all your pages most helpful--can't wait to see the cliffs, islands, and pubs. I bless whomever mentioned that Doolin has no-ATM's! Thank you much!

Here's the bummer thing: our rental car fell through. (Way too many Euro's required to secure one) so we're going to be limited by what we can see with our own two feet, bus pass, and occasional taxi.

Aside from the cliffs, burren, island, caves and Doonagore castle, anythind else local to Doolin you'd recommend seeing?

How about anything that can be reached on a one-day's bus trip? Limerick is in the is Ennis.

Wanting to travel to Ireland- need help!  (5 Answers)

I'm trying to do some research on travelling to Ireland. I would like to visit Doolin just to go visit the Cliffs of Moher. I would also like to go to Killarney and walk on the beach. Then my last stop would be to go to Dublin. I would like to go on a escorted coach tour. Does anyone recommend a certain company? I'm looking into . I will be travelling alone and would feel comfortable taking a tour of this type. Any suggestions will help.

When is the best time to visit the Cliffs of Moher? I would love to take photos of the area. What is the weather like most of the time and when is the best time to go to Ireland?

Doolin Activity Lodge  (5 Answers)

Has anybody heard of the Doolin Activity Lodge? Recommendations or information on prices etc. would be most appreciated. We have sent them an e-mail but we expect they either out looking for leprechauns or wetting their shamrocks on St. Patrick's Day..... so while we are waiting we would be grateful for anybody's input! Thanks in advance!

B&Bs in Doolin  (3 Answers)

We'll be in Doolin a couple of days at Easter. Does anybody know of good B&B accomodation that will be open then? Preferably close to a pub so we don't have far to walk after our evening pint! Thanks, KitsynMoxy
