Hi everybody I'm leaving Paris for a trip to portugal from the 4th of september to the 12th. I'll spend my nights in Leiria but I would like to visit : - Evora on monday - Peniche on tuesday - Lisboa on wednesday & thursday - Sintra on friday (I'll spend rest of the time with my friends in Leiria) Do you know the kind of public transports I can use to reach thoses places from Leiria ? (I don't want to hier a car) Thanks, and see you soon "Portugal" ;-) Nathy
You can go by bus see in http://www.rede-expressos.pt/0010.asp the timetables for all those cties... Isn't that to much? Leiria - Evora - Peniche... Lisbon Sintra I sugest you Skip Peniche and then ask your friends in Leiria to tour you to Nazaré, better then Peniche and not so far away from Leiria.
Have just come back from Portugal and as you were answered already suggest you to skip Peniche. We planned to stay there supposing it's a small fisher village with big ocean beaches. The beaches are ok, but the place is more like a factory town, you don't feel you are at the resort at all. We just spent a couple of hours in Peniche, took the last bus to Nazare and have the very pleasant days there. It's not a small village also, but is the resort for sure :) Have the great trip to Portugal!
Thanks for your answers. You understood well why I wanted to go to Peniche : to visit the island with a boat and see the tunnel. Now I am not sure anymore I want to do this ;-) I'll consider all your recommandations about new towns : may be it will be easier to vist. Thanks a lot, I'm sure I will enjoy this stay, Nathalie
Yes Berlengas, the island is great but you have to book the boat in advance, (don't know if you need to book in September), and sometimes (happened to me last summer) the sea was so bad that the boat couldn't go, they just said that on the morning of the travel. There are too many places to go...
