Weather in July - too cloudy to see a solar eclipse?

Hi there,

I'm thinking about travelling to Darjiling to view the total solar eclipse on the 22nd July, but have realised that this is at the start of the monsoon season. What's the general pattern of weather at this time of year? The eclipse is due to be happening early in the morning, I believe - from around 5.30am to 7.30am.

Thanks in advance!

The only place in India, where there will be no clouds in July will be Leh in Ladakh region. Darjeeling will be full of clouds. It is peak monsoon season in Darjeeling in mid July

Hello there,

If you are crazy about seeing solar eclipse (which is falling on 22nd July in 2009), please read on...
It may seem a little off-beat (for an info about Solar Eclipse), but i wanted to share this with you.
If you are planning to visit India especially for the eclipse, why not try going to Kurukshetra. The Brahma Sarovar (the Holy Lake) there sees more than 5 lakh people bathing on that auspicious day and moment. There is religious reasons attached to that place during Eclipse(s).

Even if you are not a religious or a spiritual person, the view from there is awesome and seeing more than 5 lakh devotees is a great sight itself.

Thanks and Regards...
