I have been looking online (Priceline and Travelocity) for accomodations for my family (husband and 14 yr. old son) for July 27th-28 and there is little available in Cooperstown, so I'm wondering what would be the next best place? Is Albany a doable drive? I noticed it's 77 miles which is not a long drive in Iowa but in this part of NY is it? If Albany isn't a good choice, what would be?

Is it better to stay in-town Cooperstown or book an accommodation further outside of Cooperstown? I'm torn on what would make the better accommodations. Any tips would be most helpful and appreciated. My son is playing at Cooperstown and as this is a once in a lifetime, I want to make the best choice.
