We will have the opportunity to stop few time in this town (park) in July on the route between Yosemite and Sacramento. What is interesting to see there ? Is there a reinactment ? Your personal experience ? Thanks RAY
Maybe I'll see you there as my wife and I will be traveling in that same area (Columbia, Jamestown, Mariposa) between July 26-30.
Hello LR, I gave VTer Robachu1 the same reply I give to you go the website: [original link] and look at the map, upper left corner above Sonora, it says Columbia, with a red dot. Click on the dot and all about Columbia comes up. Au revoir, Larry
The whole town is a reenactment! The storekeepers are required to dress in costume of the 1850s (no zippers, elastic, or wristwatches), and there are docents to give you a tour if you meet at the museum (at 11am I think). Nelson's Candy shop should be making candy canes in the window very soon, and the blacksmith will have the fire going on a cold day.
A wonderful way to go back in time, and you can pan for gold too. :) Not to be missed!
Oops, I see you were posting in June. Oh well, it is just GREAT any time of year. :)
