Things to do at Cobh Port?

Hi all -

I will be at Cobh Port for a day. Are there things to do within walking distance or should I travel out of the area?

Thanks for any responses.

As with your other posts, look at the VT Cobh travel guide for what there is to see and do locally:

Certainly enough for a day's exploration, imo.

There is a fair bit to do in Cobh but assuming you are on a Cruise and not wanting the organised tours you can get into Cork city by train, Blarney is a bus ride and back from the city.
From Cobh Fota is a taxi ride and back either the House and Gardens or Wildlife park [original link] [original link] there tend to be groups get together for their own taxi trip to Kinsale over the passage west ferry or via the city.

Thanks, Tony. We will be on a cruise. If we can get to other locations on our own without spending a fortune, we are open to that as well. On our last cruise (NY to Quebec and back down to NY through different ports), all of our time was spent walking. We had a blast without spending $$$.

If you want to keep costs down a little you will get a better lunch in the Commodore across from the port at a lower price than the regular lunch spots the Quays or the Titanic you might even get up to their roof top garden for a vantage point view. St Colmans Cathedral is also a regular stop when we get down there, not religious just a really special building.
