Hello hello, we are planning to do Moldova trip in June/ July.
I looove flea markets and was wondering if there is one in Chisinau?
With "flea market" I mean a market where locals sell second hand goods - no touristy antiques market or new goods market :). If anybody could help me out with: if, where, what day, what time a flea market take place in Chisinau, I would be super grateful :)
Many thanks in advance!
The market is in the centre near the bus station you cannot miss it. It is very local based, most definitely not a tourist market. It is open daily but closes early on Sunday. There is another in Botanica and others in the main town areas. Also a Turkish market in Chisinau down from where all the mini buses stop, sorry, can't remember the street name.
Hi Kevin,
many thanks for the helpful reply!
Ok, at home with a map now. Ismail street is the name of the street with the buses, half way down you turn right into Blvd Dimitrie Cantemir, the Turkish market is on the corner. You may want to visit Vadul le Voda for a day, it is a " beach" created on the river, should be busy at this time of year. You will find most of the markets are selling new stuff, this is the only place a large proportion of the locals can afford the shop, high street prices are out of reach of many.
Many thanks for your help Kevin! We'll check out the above when we are there :)!
you'll be in heaven here then
don't miss the satellite market areas off the main central market: "bulgara" market, etc. (what we affectionately refer to as the 'haiti markets' ;) )
and the vendors area around the train station has extended in recent years.
enjoy!
darn: also forgot to mention the secondhand market behind the train station, too cheers!
coool many thanks for your help! We'll check these out!
