Hello to all, Has anyone tried Uber? Scale 1 to 10 (1 is the worst and 10 is the best) for reliability, how easy is it to get about in wintertime, driver sanity, wait times, and anything else you can think of.. I have been to Chicago 4 or 5 times now and I pretty much can get around on my own but just was wondering about Uber.
Thanks so much ,
Hi everyone, I apologize for my english but i figured out that i would get more answers that way. I'm planning on going to Chicago during christmas because my boyfriend is a huge fan of chicago bears. So I wanted to buy him tickets for their last regular season game at home. It is the December 24th and i'm planning on staying until december 27th. But I heard that Chicago during the holiday's is like a ghost town. I was told that there is not much restaurant or bars open on christmas and christmas eve. I don't really care about museums and activities, I just want to know if there's some places we could go to celebrate christmas! Thank you

Has anyone here tried the free Uber ride from Nerdio here in Chicago? Heard from a pal that they also offer door-to-door Uber (with IT consultation, etc.) all for free. Has anyone tried it? Is it really free? Thanks!
Two young adults will be traveling to Chicago area (From Pennsylvania) to attend game at Toyota Park. Will only be staying 1 night. Drive in, go to game, spend night, go to millennium park, return to PA.

My mother and I will be visiting Chicago in the spring of 2017 (mid march). We will have approximately 10 hours to kill. Presuming the weather won't allow much out door events, what is something we could do? We are going to come into Chicago via Amtrak.
Hi. My teenage son and I are tagging along with my husband on a business trip he is taking to Mt. Prospect, IL. We will be staying in Mt. Prospect, but my son and I want to travel into Chicago each day to see the sights. We have Navy Pier, Sears/Willis Tower, The Field Museum, Millennium Park, and Wrigley for a Cubs game as must sees on our list. My question is about the transportation, what is the best way for us to get around?? I know there is a 7 day pass that would be the best value for each of us, but is that the same transit system that runs to Mt. Prospect? About how long each day are we looking at being on the train commuting to and from the city? Thanks in advance for your advice!
Two rugby games are a catalyst for eight mature chaps to travel from different parts of the globe to meet in Chicago 3 to 7 November 2016. Where should we stay ? Ideally downtown spacious apartments (2/3 ?) would be ideal so we can be together , but own bedrooms , and space to relax and catch up. As a guide we are more 5 star than 4 but nothing too over the top. Any advice much appreciated.
Hey everyone... I'm travelling to the windy city for the first time in a few weeks and would love any tips for things to see or places to eat/drink or anything that only locals would know about :)

Is it possible to buy the card at O'hare? I'd like to take the blue line from O'Hare to downtown. In fact, I'll stay 5 days in Chicago and would like to use the card from arrival at the airport till departure. I've checked on internet and not sure I can buy the card at an aiport's kiosk.
1. Can anyone comment on the safety of the Super 8 motel near Chicago airport?
2. I have 36 hours to visit this city end of June and am interested in walking around someplace where I get a feel of the city. Any suggestions where to start?
How do I get from O'Hare to Majestic Hotel at 528 West Brompton?
Assume a taxa from Amtrak station to O'Hare airport is pretty expensive. Anyone have a "ballpark" figure of what the cost could be? Any alternative modes of transportation
I know the bus would be a better deal but we would both have luggage
Thanks in advance
Cheapest transportation from union station?
Looking for a Hotel Suite that is within decent walking distance to Navy Pier. Thinking about booking at the Fairfield Inn on East Ontario Street, how close is that to NP?
Also looking to do many activities such as; the Shedd Aquarium, Navy Pier, Wrigley Field, the Chicago Funhouse Maze, Lincoln Park Zoo, the Money Museum, Museum of Broadcast Communications, the Willis Tower and the Michael Jordan statue; is there a special pass we should buy for some or most of these activities?
Hi Chicago experts - We'd love to attend a CSO classical concert, say we want lower balcony, it's listed $148 at CSO. Any advice on how to obtain tickets for lower price?
Thank you in advance!
We'll stay in Sheraton Grand hotel downtown for 2 nights in March, but don't want to pay expensive parking fee of the hotel. Are there economical parking options downtown? There has to be a way, right?
Thank you in advance.
I'm traveling from Chicago to Paris via Turkish Airlines this Thursday night, with a 3 hour layover in Turkey.
My girlfriend originally booked the ticket under my diminutive name, Nick, while my passport and Wisconsin ID display my full name, Nicholas. The ticket was booked through a travel agency, which was kind enough to get Turkish to cancel the original ticket and book the same flight and itinerary under my full name. However, that flight has now gone up in price considerably, so the only option I have left is keeping the original ticket (which wasn't cancelled after the agency realized the price went up).
Is this going to be major cause for concern? Turkish has repeatedly told me that they do not allow name corrections on tickets purchased electronically. Right now I'm thinking my best bet is to arrive at the airport way ahead of time and bring any and all supporting documents I can and talk to the ticket counter. Here's to hoping I come across a Turkish rep and TSA agent in great moods... Should I be losing sleep?
I' plan on being in Chicago for the st patricks day parade in march 2016. I am looking for a hotel that includes parking and within 2 miles of the parade route in a safe( I know, it's relative) area. Plan on taking public transportation
where is the safest and best place (walking distance to shopping area) to book my one week hotel stay in Chicago, but not too expensive?
Hi. I've got this in place of a receipt after a driver took me from O'Hare to a downtown location. Can anyone tell if this is real and in case it is who does the driver work for? It was a random driver that convinced me to go with him, nothing was prearranged.
I've been in Chicago 14 years ago, I remember we went to a street where you could find many blues clubs. Once you enter on the 1st one you had to pay an entrance fee, then they gave you a wristlet which you could use to get into any of the blues clubs on the same street/area, as many clubs as you wanted. Now I'm going to visit the windy city again and I wonder if anyone knows which is the place/street/area I'm talking about. Is it still exists? Thanks for your help! I'd appreciate it very much
Hi. I'm coming into Chicago this week for the first time. I've never navigated public transportation before. I'm headed from O'Hare, to my airbnb downtown, to Soldier Field. I'm petrifield of missing a stop, or not finding the spots I need to go to for the bus/eL. Are they easily navigated by newbies?
Also, I have to take the UPN (is that right? lol) to Great Lakes the next day.
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks in advace.
Here am I, a Chicagoan, Asking this question: where can my visiting grandkids go to swim in a pool? They've been to the beach, of course, since we live on this big lake. However, their father would like to take them to a pool--and we can't find one that admits people without a membership! The park district requires proof of residence, and for many reasons too long to explain, neither my husband nor I can go with. So.........anybody know of a pool where they can just pay to get in for a few hours?
The park district, unfortunately, has mostly indoor pools that are extremely regulated. The one near us, for example, closes the pool most of the day for water aerobics, day camp, etc., so that's out.
Hi dear fellow travelers and especially citizens of Chicago,
As far as I remember last celebration of July 4 was, let me say, noisy in Chicago. The butcher’s bill was seven shot dead including seven years boy whose father has been arrested forty three times but was never imprisoned and who probably was the real target, plus forty wounded. So, my question is, what areas, blocks of Chicago are safe and what dangerous. What areas white European should never enter, should no enter during dark time and so on.
I hope central part of the city including area with Chicago Institute of fine arts is relatively safe as any European city.
Thank you in advance.
Traveling to Chicago from Columbus Ohio with a 16 and 6 year old for Labor Day Weekend and looking for a suburb suggestion for safe, nice area to stay with about a half hour rail commute into the city? Thanks in advance for any suggestions :)
