I will be going to the Rock Garden of Chandigarh next month.
Has anyone been there before via train from Delhi?
The Nek Foundation website mentions taking the Shatabdi Express train from Delhi.
Does one need a reservation for the train, or can you buy tickets the same day?
If a reservation is needed, how far in advance should it be made?
How far is the garden from Chandigarh station?
How crowded you think the garden will be with tourists?
Ned Chands Fantasy Rock Garden is a great place to visit, even thou Chandigraph itself has not much else to offer it is worth the trip. It's something out a Tim Burton Film, hope you'll like it.
Unfortunaly I stoped off at Chandigrah on my way down from Shimla and Manali, so I didn't take the train from Delhi but had a little look around my books and you might need to be careful about which Shatadbi Express train you want from Delhi. Their is defiantly a daily Shatadbi Express train leaving Delhi for Amritsar but it does not go to Chandigrah, the nearest town it stops at is Amabala, but their is another called Jan Shatadbi Express train going from Delhi to Chandigrah, sound like that is the train you need. I usually book a day in advanced you will only need a seat for the trip as the journey will be no longer than 3-4 hours. I have no info as what time of day that leaves but check out seat61.com you might find the train on the website.
The train station is about 3km from Ned Chands Fantasy Rock Garden.
Yes, reservation is a must in Kalka Shatabadi. "Kalka Mail" is a different train.
Dont wait till last moment, get the reservation done as early as possible. Other attractions in Chandigarh:
Pinjore Garden, Sukhana Lake, Sector 17 market.
Chandigarh is well maintained city and greenery all over.
Thank you for the train info.
How should I get to the rock garden from the train station?
By axi? Can I walk?
Hi, I was just wondering of these one way tai operators, whether they have any creditibility ir not. I can see various different rates for delhi - chandigarh travel ranging form 1800 - 3000 for indic a. Confused !!
