Parking issues?  (10 Answers)

So my wife and I are going to Thailand in Oct this year, very familiar with Thailand but not this particular area.

We want to rent a car in Bangkok, drive to Arranyapratet and park, get across the border and go t Siem Reap for 3 days to check out the ruins. Can anyone tell me if this is doable? Been looking for a place to rent a car in this area and don't see one, otherwise I would go in and rent a car after we got back into Thailand but don't want to go all the way back to Bangkok to do that.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Hotel / Accommdation recommended  (1 Answer)

First we like to thank so many VT'ers who been very helpful, such as Sir Halberd, Curt and so many more.
My wife and I are flipping pages and pages of accommodation, and we are narrowing it down depending on recommendations from local VTers or visitors who has been to. We wish to book or something like a trial hotel perhaps 3 nights stay. Our budget for a room per night would be no more than U.S.$25.00 per night- with air condition, wifi, a small refrigerator, easy access to Skytrain or transportation. A VT'er commented to stay far from Sukhumvit because of the political issues.

Any recommendation you folks can give us, we surely would appreciate it very much!!!
My wife is all so excited about the things she hears how great the seafood are in Bangkok as well as all those sweetest fruits out there….she calls them fruits from paradise!!! Again thanking each and everyone of you for any help.

Train or bus from Sukothai to Chang Mai  (6 Answers)

I am in two minds which will be most convenient. The only train which makes sense to me is the #9 which stops at 13:19 at Phitsanulok, and arrives at 20:30 in ChangMai - plus we need the bus from Sukothai to get to the station. That is at least 8 hours travelling time. I understand there are air-conditioned buses leaving Sukothai every hour, and that travelling time is only 5.5 hours. Which will offer the most comfotable/scenic option - bus or train - in your opinion? We will be travelling by trainfrom Ayutthaya tp Phitsanulok/Sukothai.

Quiet accommodation where you can *hear* the sea  (6 Answers)

Hi,

We are going on our honeymoon to eastern Thailand in late July/early August, we are trying to decide where precisely now. We want to stay somewhere where we can leave the balcony door or window open and hear the sea outside each night. That sound is more important than "sea views", and we're finding many hotels with the latter. The only other thing we'd need are a good choice of quality restaurants.

Where in eastern Thailand would we find hotel accommodation like this? Thanks.

buildings with public places: city skyline photos?  (3 Answers)

Please suggest observatories, office buildings or hotels with upper floor views &/or restaurants, & other places where public can take aerial photos of city skylines, traffic, pedestrians, & other urban scenes. Preference is for free access. (except cost of eating)

And any links to better lists of "free things to do" appreciated! Thanks!

Can you compare and advise on these Jungle adventure activities in Thailand

1) Flight of the Gibbon in Pattaya
2) Tree Top Adventure in Koh Chang

I am going to be in Krabi and in Bangkok - so i could take a day of from either place and do any one of the two.

1) Are they alike or are they different. So do i do only one if they are somewhat similar ?

2) If its any 1, which would be better according to you

3) Is the jungle quality the same in both places ?

Bangkok and a beach resort in rainy season  (6 Answers)

We are travelling to Thailand for just a week from the UK at the end of October. we want to do three nights in Bangkok and then travel to a quietish beach resort for the remaining 4 nights. Can anyone recommend an island we can fly or bust to or,alternatively, a part of the coast. I am conscious that it is rainy season so we need a place that isn't going to be hit by the monsoon! I've been to Koh Samui before so want a change from that island.

Many thanks all!

From Khao Yai to Koh Chang  (2 Answers)

Who knows if it possible to get from Khao Yai NP to Koh Chang in one day?
Either direction

I can't find anything on it, other then that we have to go back to Bangkok en then go to Koh Chang, but that is a real detour and I was hoping there is a direct bus going from the park to the island maybe. Or from Khorat?

If it's not possible and we would have to do it in 2 days: are there any nice routes anyone could suggest so that we could see something else as well and not just waste a day travelling?

thanks!

Travelling around Thailand  (6 Answers)

I'm spending a month in Thailand from 30th Sept - 30th October. I fly into Bangkok. I'm hoping to spend a few days in Bangkok then hopefully plan to trvael north to Chang Mai. I then plan on going to Koh Samui, Krabbi and Phuket. What would be the best way to travel around Thailand and would it be too much to try and spend a few days in Cambodia?

Trip to Thailand  (4 Answers)

Hi all,
My wife and I will be in Bangkok in April 2011 and we have plans to go to Chiang mai for 5 days, but with the problems in Burma we might end up changing our itinerary. We will be going on to cha am for songkran and to chill. Can anybody recommend a place to visit preferably not touristy, but Thai, as we like to see how the Thai’s live and learn their culture. Any input will be much appreciated.

Travel Companion to Thailand  (1 Answer)

Hi

We are a small family from Chandigarh, India. We are frequent travelers and we go for long vacations. We are going to Thailand from Dec 25, 2010 to Jan 6 2011. We would stay at Pattaya in a private villa.

We are travelling alongwith our 10 years old son. We would love to have a companion there. If any couple, preferable and Indian couple visiting that place during the same period is interested in company, please respond.

We enjoy drinking and smoking. We cook our own food. We want to have all sort of fun at Thailand. Company of a like-minded couple would definitely add to our pleasure.
