Castellina in Chianti

Beaches in a day

I'm staying in Tuscany for a month and would like to take my grandchildren to the Mediterranean. Are there any beaches within a day trip of Castellina?

I guess you will have a car?

If so, have a look at this map of Tuscany coast

There are two beaches which I could recommend, one is in Castiglione della Pescaia and the other one in a nearby Punta Ala. Not bad is beach of Torre Mozza/Piombino.
But I would strongly recommend to go to Isola d'Elba, where the most attractive beach resorts of Tuscany can be found.

You will find beaches along the coastline if you drive directly to the west along the SR68. South of Cecina take the road that runs along the coast to long sandy beaches in front of sand dunes and pine forest.
