I am arriving in casablanca on a cruise ship.what is the best way to get to the city? is once in the city are most attractions within walking distance? is there a tourist information scentre?where can I get a city map? can I change euros or brit pounds to dirhams at the port visinity. Is it possible to hire a taxi for the day and what is the likely cost for that?
Casablanca port is close to the city centre and within walking distance, there are plenty of banks and currency exchange agencies around United Nations square, you don't need to hire a taxi for the whole day, they are plentiful, buzzing around everywhere, just flag one down when you need it, they are coloured red and signed 'petit taxi'.
Down load a map by entering 'map casablanca morocco' into your computer search engine, print out a copy to take with you.

many thanks benny for the comprehensive reply.
yes you can be quite happily busy for a day with the sights - make sure you get to the Hassan 2 mosque for a tour, its an amazing building.
The mauresque architecture of the buidlings around the city centre, including the cathedral are interesting.
YOu could catch a taxi to the Habous quarter. you could also catch a taxi to the largest mall apparently in North Africa - I got taken there to at least see the aquarium and I must admit it was something to see ie you can walk down under the aquarium and then be taken up through the middle of it in a glass elevator with thousands of beautiful fish, including sharks, to look at.
Thank you very much for the information
