My friend and I will be visiting Vietnam in January. We thought it would be nice to visit Angkor Wat since we won't be returning to South East Asia for quite some time after this trip.
However due to scheduling restraints, we would only have one day to spend in Siem Reap before returning to HCMC in the late evening.
As I was booking our flight through Vietnam Airlines, I had noticed a message on the Vietnam Airlines website. It says, "For itineraries to Siem Rep (REP), minimum of one night stay in REP is required by government."
Does this mean we are unable to visit Siem Reap unless we stay for more than a day?
I can't seem to find much information online and I haven't heard any back from the Cambodian consulate. Other people who have posed the same question online and many replies seem to imply that it wouldn't be a problem but the last thing I need would be to chance it and get stranded.
Does anybody have any experience with this? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Hi all, travelling from Siem Reap to Don Det, travel arrangements already sorted for this journey.
So what's the best way for us to make it back to Phnom Penh from Don Det.
We would prefer to do it in one day if possible...
Any suggestions will be greatly received.
Happy Christmas Happy travlin

Hello! Has anyone traveled on the Mekong Explore boat from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap? I'm debating whether to get the bus or the boat (next week). I have traveled on boats in Cambodia in the past, and I'm aware of the lack of safety, but I'm a bit older now and more wary!! I have heard that Mekong Explore is a better option and has life jackets. Any information or recommendations would be gratefully received :)
Is it possible to make Mekong tour for 2 days from PnomPenh ending in Saigon?
Does anybody have such experience?
What is the exit fee from Siem Reap Cambodia.
Hi! I have a transit time of 1 hour 25 minutes at Bangkok Suvarnabhuni International Airport, between a flight from London and Phnom Penh. (With Thai Airways) Has anyone had an experience of such a short transit and managed to connect to their flight and get their baggage at the other end? :)
would it be advisable to pay with US dollars in Cambodia
We are planning to go on this tour
The reviews online are very good. Has anybody done this before? Is there any other company doing this tour? Any pros and cons?
Thanks in advance

Hello! Is it advisable to book this boat trip in advance? We will be travelling on November 22nd, I'm not sure how busy this time of year will be, but guessing it could be quite busy. Many thanks in advance!
I am in Sri Lanka now. Wish to go to Phnom Penh.
Should I get a stamped visa on my passport prior to entry or can I just go and get one on arrival at the airport?
I am travelling to Cambodia and the Philippines this summer.
I am staying a week in Cambodia, 3 days in Siem Reap and 4 days in Phnom Phen. Then I am going to the Philipines for almost two weeks, 6 days in Laoag and Pagudpud and then the rest of the time in Manila.
When I look at the Danish health department's guidelines for Malaria prophylaxis they recommend to take tablets but they then link to a malaria map on the national health services website for the UK, and when I look at that map the areas I am visiting has the "low to no risk, antimalaria is usually not advised" colour.
So I am a bit torn on what to do, does people normally take antimalaria tablets when travelling in these areas, or just make sure to use mozzie reppellant with DEET and proper clothing?
I am thinking theres always a risk that there will be a malaria infected mozzie in the area because you cant control where they fly, and I normally trust the travel advices of the health department.
Any advices from experienced travellers in these areas would be appreciated!
I visited Cambodia in 2014 and got totally addicted to the Kirum pepper sauce made by Comfirel. You can see it here:
It's available from almost all supermarkets in Cambodia. I live in London and have tried everything over the last 2 years to get Comfirel or other companies to send me a box of it but they don't export. I even considered getting some exported in the US then sent to me in the UK but it's a bit complicated.
So if you are based in the UK (or France as my family is in France & my dad is crazy about the sauce too!) and travelling to Cambodia in the near or medium future, would you mind bringing back a few bottles/ (the bigger bottles the better and the more the even better but I'm begging stage so I'll take anything!).
I'll refund you, pay for any postage & give you extra to say thanks and if you are in London, I'll buy you a pint on top!
Let me know!
Hi, I will be visiting Cambodia with some friends in November. We'd like to do Siem Reap to visit Angkor Wat (maybe 3 days?) and then head to the South Coast for about a week of lazing on the beach - not sure which beach/islands just yet. Hoping for some logistic tips? Thinking it would be best to fly into Siem Reap, then fly to Sihanoukville. When leaving would we be best to fly out of Phnom Penh? And what is the best way to get there from Sihanoukville (I've heard some horror stories about bus trips)? Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated!
We're planning a trip in 2017 to Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. What would be best season to go? Late April or September. Not sure if we can hit all three or only 2 countries. Any suggestions?

Hello - I am normally mildly handicapped in the sense that, due to previous injuries and illnesses, I cannot walk long distances without pain. However today my situation was aggravated when a young woman decided to run into my Lyme disease knee with her motor scooter! This is awful, walking is painful. Coming here was grueling (overland from Laos) and of course there are expenses, and I will not return, so I must see the ruins! Which ones can I enter in a tuk tuk? Any advice? Thanks, Jean
Hi! I am planning a trip to Cambodia for my partner and I's honeymoon. The only trouble is that we will probably be limited to two weeks. I traveled in Cambodia about 15 years ago and I remember that getting from A to B wasn't always very quick or simple! I would like have a couple of days in Phnom Penh then to go by boat from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, have a few days there to see the temples then fly to Phu Quoc for approx 3 days , return by boat to Ha Tien then travel to Kampot and spend a couple of days in Bokor National Park before returning by road to Phnom Penh to fly home. Am I being a little ambitious here?! Many thanks in advance for any advise or tips you can give me!
In march next year, mother and father will be in Phnom Penh for 1 week, from there catching the bus to Ho chi minh. They will be in Vietnam less than 15 days, for which they do not have to pay for a visa, once they arrive at the boarder are they granted immediate entry in to Vietnam,or do they still have to apply for the visa?not to sure about the new rules! They will get the visa from Phnom Penh if needed!
I am traveling from US to Kep, Kampot, Siem and Phnom Penh next month and would like advice on necessary Immunizations.
Hi alla, I'll be in Cambodia soon. I'd like to know which currency I need to carry with me. I'm not sure if to carry US dollari or Euro.
Which currency gives the ATM machines?
Many thanks for tour help.
What is the best way to obtain tourist visa to Cambodia. I am a US citizen. Thank you.
We have 14-15 days on the ground in Cambodia and am looking for 2 or 3 areas to visit during this time so we are not spending the entire trip traveling from place to place. We want culture/history/nature as well as beach/fun/sun. It's 2 couples, all ladies and we are between 33-40yrs old. Seems like we would want to go to Siem Reapp & Phnom Penh and then add in a beach town or island.
When it comes to the beach town and or island we want beauty and are hoping for an place that has some lively beach bars. We enjoy gathering for drinks, meeting fellow travelers and something with a bit of a night life.
We aren't budget travelers or high end. We like hotels/bungalows or other accommodations that are friendly, clean and don't mind paying $50-$85 a night. Any suggestions are appreciated and I am more than happy to answer questions if it would help with your suggestions.

Need an itinerary suggestions for 8 days for a possible Vt meet in Cambodia. Many of us from India, some from Australia, and a few others from other parts are interested in making this happen. Some members who have visited Cambodia a few times have offered to help (hope they respond here too)
So I'm traveling to Cambodia in a couple months for about 5-6 days, I've never been before. What should I make sure not to miss?
Advice please on travel from Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh. We do not want to fly if at all possible and ideally we would not like to go via Phnom Penh.
questions are..... Is it possible on bus / coach.......... how long would it take......... and the cost
I am heading to Sihanoukville In a few days for a week but have been told to avoid that and go to the islands instead.
Any advice on which island is best to go to out of Koh Rong and Koh Rong Saloem? I am a solo female traveller, looking to meet people but not necessarily for all night drinking sessions, but I don't want to be surrounded by only couples either!
Budget is $10 a night so any advice on accommodation around this price range would be greatly appreciated too.
