We stayed for 2 nights at the Lang House B&B just several blocks from the Church Street pedestrianised zone and similarly 2 or 3 blocks from the western end of the UVM campus, with private parking. We were delighted, the breakfasts were great, but NOT CHEAP. The Inn at Shleburne was our first choice but was filled up - note it is right on the main US 7 and Shelburne most totally close up at night. It is about 7 miles to downtown Burlington. On my page is a great bistro type restaurant on church street but there are multiple other choices on that stretch that also look good.

If you can, depending on how you are getting into Burlington, consider a drive thru the Grand Isles of N and S Hero and Isle La Motte. Close to breathtaking. If you are coming up from the Albany area, get out your map and try and drive north on State 22A from Fair Haven - another beautiful trip with the rolling farms and the Green Mountains in the distance.

Hi, Karen. Welcome to Vermont, even if you'll only be here for a couple days. Pity for that, too. I'm sure you'll like it here. The weather in September is excellent and, if you're coming around the latter part of the month, the leaves will be starting to turn.

There are plenty of places to stay in Burlington. It all depends upon what sort of place you're interested. There are several excellent hotels, two of which (Hilton and Marriott) are right on the waterfront. However, if you're more inclined towards something smaller, you might look into B&Bs, which is my own preference. There are several in the downtown/waterfront area.

You can find these with a Google search, if you like, or, if you need any help, I could look around and pass along some suggestions.

I would suggest Hotel Anchorage Inn in South Burlington, VT.
Just across the street they have one of the biggest mall, bunch of restaurants, 15 min by car from airport, 5 min by car to university of Vermont and 10 min by car to downtown. This city have Champlain lake, there are the most beautiful sunset I`ve ever seen!
Also it has pool, not big but its ok. I saw people with pets, so probably it is allowed there.
Good news – it is much better now! They changed a lot!
So I think you will enjoy your staying even if it`s a day)
