I have arranged for a private taxi to pick us up at EZE and take us on a 5 hour private tour of Buenos Aires and then on to our cruise ship at the port. He has suggested a pre-fixed rate of a total of210 US for this service.(2 persons/English speaking guide) Can anybody tell me if this seems like a fair rate (we do not have a place to put our luggage as no hotel is required in BA for the night-thus our luggage will be with us)
How can a check that this person has a legitimate taxi company/besides the fact that I found him online. He is not asking for any deposit ahead of time.
I'm going to be in Buenos Aires for a month(mid Sept to mid Oct) and this will be my first time in South America. I want spend the first week or two exploring Buenos Aires and other parts of Argentina and am open to try and see anything! Does anyone have any suggestions on things I MUST do and see? Also, does anyone have any good hostel recommendations? I am in my mid-twenties and will be traveling alone.
I also want to visit Machu Picchu and Patagonia during my trip to South America. Would you recommend booking these trips in advance or what is the best way to go about in doing this (i.e. take the bus, book an excursion through a travel service, etc.)?
I am planning two months in Buenos Aires....my third trip to B.A. I just love it down there :-) I have many options on apartment rentals but have come down to two : a fouth floor apartment with balcony on Arenales Street, between Rodriguez Pena and Callao OR a ninth floor apartment with balcony on the corner of Juncal and Uruguay. Both look great but I am concerned about colectivo/street traffic and noise. I checked in my Guia "T" but could not figure out if there were a bunch of colectivos stops below these balconies. Don't get me wrong....I love colectivos and use them all the time....but they are so noisy. Any feedback would be appreciated. Muchas gracias.
Hello, I'm going to be in BA for three days (June 23-26). I'm a 16 year old girl. If anyone can suggest what to do or see, or if anyone of a similar age wants to meet and hang out or to show me the sights, I would be very grateful.
Hello dear VT-friends!
I'm planning for a trip to Argentina in octobre of this year.
I'm looking for a nice restaurant on the 4th of octobre and I was wondering if anyone knows if the restaurant 'Viva el Viento' is suitable for ramintic diners at 7pm?
Hope to hear from anyone!
All the best
I am a French traveller and I will be in Buenos Aires for the first time on 26th & 27th June. What best to see? And where to stay in the city, for 2 nights? If anyone would like to meet up for a chat or coffee, I m in! Thank you for your answer.
I will be spending 4 nights in Buenos Aries in December and am unsure as to the best location to stay in. I am looking for cheap and clean but safe accommodation. Any other tips as to budget gaucho ranch trips and ferry prices to Colonia also welcome.
I will be visiting Buenos Aires for the first time and plan on spending 2 weeks there. What are the "must do/must sees"? What to do? What to wear? ( traveling in May) Where to go? Where to stay in the city? (location wise) What to wear? What to wear when tangoing??? I am just looking for advice! I am adventurous, I like to try new things, hike, dance, drink wine, watch sports, play sports....
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!
I know this is probably impossible but is the only time I have. Can you please recommend an itinerary to do 1 day in Buenos Aires full day? I want to see major landmarks; probably dinner and a show; depends. Any suggestions/itinerary will be very appreciated. Also if you know of a tour company that does a whole day itinerary it would also be welcomed.
I will be in Buenos Aires on 14th, 18th & 19th April. If any VT members would like to meet up for a chat or coffee, pls let me know. Thank you.
My husband and I are going to Rio and Buenos Airs in November and are interested in a private tour rather than a group tour..... any suggestions... ? ? ? also do you think we need a guide in Iguassu Falls... ? ? ??
First post here. I will be studying Spanish in Buenos Aires in July. Love the city and culture, but I've read that tourists need to be extremely careful in Buenos Aires to avoid being mugged. I would like to get some opinions on safety and safety precautions from seasoned travellers and those who have been to Buenos Aires.
I understand that Buenos Aires is relatively safer that a city like Rio or Johannesberg. The problem, you see, is that, due to my ethnic and racial background (I am ethnic Chinese), I stand out as a foreigner/tourist in a country like Argentina, and am more exposed to being targeted by local thieves and criminals. In other words, it is harder for me to blend in and act like a local. I never have the same concern when traveling in Asia, because I can pretend to be a local.
Safety and precautionary measures are important for me, and I'd hate to see a great study abroad experience ruined by a mugging. I have been held in gunpoint at one time in my life, and it was not a pleasant experience, so I'd not rather see it happen again.
Is there a website for Buenos Aires events?
Live music at bars, movies, etc..
If it is only in Spanish, that is fine.
Can any tell me if there are lockers for luggage at the bus station as we have 5 hours before our bus leaves.
Also, any recommendation for a nice drink and meal that is not too far from the bus station.
Do credit cards have to be chip and pin? Or can they also be used by swiping them through the machine and then signing the receipt?
And another question: Do debit cards carrying the Maestro logo and a four digit pin work in the ATMs?
My daughter is going to Buenos Aires and was told to bring the rent in US dollars, as most people would prefer US dollars. But since she's not going to carry all her money in cash, she'll need to use a credit or debit card from time to time.
I was in BA a year ago and found restaurant prices to be very agreeable. Are they still?
